Honeywell to ‘double production in three years’ at Africa’s largest refinery

December 2, 2025 by David Edwards

Honeywell claims it will ‘double production in three years’ at Africa’s largest refinery from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has selected Honeywell to supply advanced technology, services, proprietary catalysts and equipment to help enable the refinery to process a wider range of crude and double the production capacity at Africa’s largest refinery in Lekki, Nigeria by 2028.

Dangote will leverage Honeywell’s refining and petrochemical processing solutions, which help customers reduce production costs, improve efficiency and increase throughput, to grow its refining capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day over the next three years.

With this expansion, Dangote will become the world’s largest petroleum refinery, strengthening in-continent fuel production, reducing reliance on imports and supporting local energy security needs. [Read more…] about Honeywell to ‘double production in three years’ at Africa’s largest refinery

From adaptive welding to AI painting: Automation breakthroughs transforming critical factory processes

December 1, 2025 by David Edwards

Welding, painting and dispensing sit at the intersection of precision, repeatability and risk. They are among the most technically demanding – and historically hazardous – processes on the factory floor.

For decades, robotics has offered incremental improvements, but a new generation of automation technologies is now reshaping these workflows at a fundamental level.

Driven by global competition, labour shortages and rising quality expectations, manufacturers in automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery, electronics and industrial fabrication are turning to smarter, more adaptable robotic systems. Nvidia invests $2 billion in Synopsys as the companies expand partnership to ‘revolutionize engineering and design across industries’

December 1, 2025 by David Edwards

Nvidia and Synopsys have agreed a “major expansion” of their long-running technical collaboration, outlining a multiyear partnership that aims to reshape engineering workflows across semiconductor, aerospace, automotive and industrial sectors.

The agreement combines Nvidia’s accelerated computing stack with Synopsys’ engineering and simulation software to address the mounting complexity facing R&D teams.

As part of the deal, Nvidia has invested $2 billion in Synopsys common stock at a purchase price of $414.79 per share. And because Synopsys acquired Ansys for approximately $35 billion earlier this year, Nvidia will probably be a part owner of the engineering design application. ‘Engineering art’: Supercar sells for world record $20.6 million

December 1, 2025 by David Edwards

Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has announced that the S1 LM supercar (Chassis #1) sold for $20,630,000 (almost £16 million) at auction in Las Vegas on 21 November.

The British driver-centric supercar brand confirmed that the record-breaking sale of the final chassis from its ultra-exclusive five-car production run set a new benchmark as the most expensive new car ever sold at auction (excluding charitable sales).

The dramatic helicopter arrival of the S1 LM set the tone for an unforgettable evening at the amfAR charity’s Gala Dinner, which took place in partnership with the Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix. [Read more…] about ‘Engineering art’: Supercar sells for world record $20.6 million

Choosing the Right Data Cabling Company for Reliable Network Infrastructure

November 29, 2025 by David Edwards

In our present digital age, which is so integrated into business, we see that having robust, reliable, and scalable network infrastructure is the key to success.

At the scale of a small office up to a corporate facility or large industrial operation, the performance of your network is a reflection of the quality of your cabling.

That is why we put forward the choice of the right data cabling company as the most important decision you can make for your organization’s tech base. [Read more…] about Choosing the Right Data Cabling Company for Reliable Network Infrastructure

Why Tool Geometry Still Matters in an Era of Smart CNC and Industrial Robots

November 28, 2025 by David Edwards

Robots load parts. CNC controls adapt feeds and speeds on the fly. Dashboards stream spindle data in real time. It’s tempting to think the hard work is done by software now, and tooling is just a line item on the purchase order.

But no matter how much intelligence you bolt onto a cell, the cut still happens at a tiny piece of carbide meeting metal. That’s where tool geometry quietly decides whether your smart process actually delivers. [Read more…] about Why Tool Geometry Still Matters in an Era of Smart CNC and Industrial Robots

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol partners with Neura Robotics to test new autonomous ground-operations robot

November 25, 2025 by David Edwards

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is testing a new autonomous system designed to automate one of the most physically demanding and time-critical ground-handling tasks: connecting aircraft to ground power units (GPUs).

The technology, known as ARC (Autonomous Robot for GPU Connection), has been developed in collaboration with KLM and Neura Robotics and was recently demonstrated live at the airport.

The project aims to address growing operational pressures at airports, where staff shortages and physically intensive work have made GPU connection a persistent bottleneck. [Read more…] about Amsterdam Airport Schiphol partners with Neura Robotics to test new autonomous ground-operations robot

Interview with Fictiv founder Dave Evans: ‘Unparalleled catalog of standard mechanical components’

November 25, 2025 by David Edwards

As labour shortages, supply-chain volatility, and reshoring pressures continue to reshape American manufacturing, companies are increasingly turning to flexible automation and digital platforms to stay competitive.

Few firms sit at the centre of that transformation quite like Fictiv, the global manufacturing platform co-founded by Dave Evans, who now serves as its CEO.

Fictiv describes itself as a “digital thread” for custom manufacturing – an end-to-end platform that connects engineers with a distributed global network of manufacturing partners across the US, Mexico, India, and China.
