Honda integrates Nidec’s omnidirectional wheels into personal mobility machine

July 5, 2025 by David Edwards

Honda has integrated Nidec’s jointly developed omnidirectional drive unit into its latest personal mobility robot, Uni-One, now available for test rides at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

Uni-One – a hands‑free, seated mobility device – allows users to steer simply by shifting body weight, while keeping both hands free for other tasks.

It features a dynamic height adjustment: a low position for safe boarding and a higher posture while moving to bring the rider closer to eye‑level with standing individuals, supporting more natural social interaction. Schmalz releases new mGrip robotic gripper

March 6, 2025 by David Edwards

Schmalz has released its new mGrip finger gripper which the company says was constructed in hygienic design, and “fulfils the highest cleanliness standards”.

Thanks to its unique geometry, it picks up delicate products such as vegetables or baked goods precisely and gently. This enables food manufacturers to automate their handling tasks with process reliability.

Sensitive surfaces, sometimes soft and sometimes fragile, rather spherical or flat – food products have many different shapes and are therefore a challenge for automated solutions. They only have one thing in common: handling must be absolutely hygienic and therefore safe. [Read more…] about Schmalz releases new mGrip robotic gripper
