Yaskawa achieves 30 million total shipments of AC drives

Yaskawa, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial robotics and automation technologies, says it has reached 30 million total shipments of alternating current drives.

An AC drive is a device that is used to control the speed of an electric motor, which are present in almost all robots and automated machines.

Yaskawa and Phoenix Contact partner to develop new PLC platform

Yaskawa, a manufacturer of motion control, robotics, and variable speed drives, and Phoenix Contact, a manufacturer of automation solutions, have agreed a partnership to develop a new programmable logic controller platform.

The companies say they will utilize PLCnext Technology from Phoenix Contact in the development of the “next generation machine controller and PLC platform”, realizing the i3-Mechatronics solution concept lead by Yaskawa.

The common goal of both companies is to offer an open and future-proof ecosystem for industrial automation. In this context, Phoenix Contact has licensed its PLCnext runtime environment to Yaskawa and agrees on further joint developments. Yaskawa reaches 20 million AC servo motor sales

Yaskawa Electric, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial robots and automation technologies, has sold 20 million AC servo motor sales to date, according to a press release on the company’s website.

The company has offered AC servo motors and controllers to a wide range of customers in Japan and overseas since 1983.

Yaskawa launches ‘explosion proof’ industrial robot for painting

Yaskawa Electric has launched what it describes as an “explosion-proof” industrial “handling” robot.

The new Motoman MHP 45L has a payload capacity of 45 kg, and maximum reach of 2,850 mm for painting areas using volatile paints.

Yaskawa begins sales of its new collaborative robot

Yaskawa Electric, one of the largest industrial robot manufacturers in the world, has begun sales of its new collaborative robot.

The Motoman HC20 DT is said to be anti-dust and drip-proof, with a payload capacity of 20kg and a maximum reach of 1,700 mm.

Yaskawa opens new production facility in Slovenia

Following two years of construction, Japanese technology group Yaskawa has officially opened its new robot production facility with European robotics development center at Kočevje, Slovenia. (See video below.)

Yaskawa already started European production of its Motoman robots at the end of 2018. The investment volume is about 25 million euros.

The new plant supplements the existing production facilities in Japan and China and will satisfy about 80 per cent of the European demand for Motoman robots.

Yaskawa launches digital product configurator of Servo motor 3D part models

Yaskawa America, Inc. has launched its new digital product catalogue of Servo motors and motion control products.

Built by CADENAS PARTsolutions, the new tool enables engineers to quickly find, configure and download a 3D part model of Servo motors directly from Yaskawa’s website.

As the world’s largest manufacturer of AC inverter drives, motion control and robotic automation systems, Yaskawa sought a solution to make their products easily available to online customers.

China-US trade dispute causing industrial robot makers to forecast lower earnings

The ongoing trade dispute between China and the US has caused three of the world’s largest industrial robot makers to lower their earnings forecasts, according to a report on Nikkei.

Yaskawa, Kuka, and Fanuc have all “downgraded their full-year earnings forecasts”, reports Nikkei.

Yaskawa America opens Solution Center

Yaskawa America, Inc.’s Drives & Motion Division has launched the newest addition to yaskawa.com, the Solution Center. The Solution Center is a self-service knowledge database providing all the functionality and content customers need to resolve issues themselves, available around the clock.

The goal is to provide an online centre where customers can quickly find support solutions, managed by the technical support teams, along with documentation already available on yaskawa.com.

As The company’s technical support team solves issues, content is created and added as “Yaskawa Solutions” in the Solution Center. The answers are the same that the support teams use to resolve issues every day.

Yaskawa introduces Sigma SD spindle drive

The Drives & Motion Division of Yaskawa America, Inc. has introduced the Sigma SD line of spindle drive systems. The new product was created to bring a notable increase in precision and productivity to automated machining equipment.

Sigma SD draws upon the technical advances of Yaskawa’s Sigma Series servo systems to meet the specialized demands of high volume machine tool manufacturers.

The SD product uses Sigma technology to give a spindle drive with precise speed control, plus the ability to move between speed settings very rapidly, says the company. This capability enables an SD system to create more finished components per hour without sacrificing the quality and uniformity of the finished component.
