Unigel installs first industrial-scale green hydrogen production site in Brazil using ThyssenKrupp technology

Unigel has built the first industrial-scale green hydrogen plant in Brazil.

The company, which is one of the largest chemical companies in Latin America and the largest manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizers in Brazil, has invested a total of $120 million in the development of the production site for green hydrogen.

In the first phase of the project, Unigel installed three 20 MW standard electrolyzers from ThyssenKrupp Nucera, adding up to a total capacity of 60 MW. The plant will feed one of the largest green ammonia plants by capacity when it starts its production. New Honda and Suzuki models use ThyssenKrupp carbon wheels

The German carbon wheels manufacturer, ThyssenKrupp Carbon Components, has expanded its portfolio by five models within the last two months.

In detail three Suzuki models of the street sector, namely the GSXS1000, GSX-S1000F and Katana as well as Honda’s new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and the SP version, can now be equipped with braided carbon wheels of the highest quality.

ThyssenKrupp Carbon Components’ patented braiding technology ensures not only stunning optics but also high damage tolerance. The carbon wheels for both Japanese manufacturers are available in Style 1 and – thanks to ABE, DOT E and JWL homologation – road-legal worldwide. Japan Post and Yamato to test delivery robots in Tokyo

Logistics and snail-mail delivery giant Japan Post is partnering with Yamato, one of Japan’s largest door-to-door delivery service companies, to test delivery robots on the streets of Tokyo, according to Nikkei.

The robot the two companies are using was built by a local company called ZMP, which appears to specialise in autonomous mobile vehicles, be they delivery robots or cars.

ThyssenKrupp sells its elevator business for more than $17 billion

Giant industrial conglomerate ThyssenKrupp says it has successfully completed the sale of its elevator business, marking a further important milestone in the transformation of the company.

The transaction closed after all the responsible authorities had approved the sale to a bidding consortium led by Advent International and Cinven.

ThyssenKrupp had reached an agreement with the consortium on the purchase of the elevator business earlier this year. With the closing, the company has received the contractually agreed purchase price, which was reported to be $17.2 billion. Reinventing the Wheel: ThyssenKrupp intensifies sales and marketing activities for carbon wheels

Giant industrial conglomerate ThyssenKrupp is putting its not inconsiderable weight behind a new type of wheel, or rather, a new material being used for motorcycle wheels – carbon.

The lightweight expert ThyssenKrupp Carbon Components and the chassis specialist ThyssenKrupp Bilstein say they have intensified their joint promotion and sales of premium tuning components for motorcycles made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

ThyssenKrupp and Wilhelmsen to develop additive manufacturing solutions for shipbuilding

ThyssenKrupp is collaborating with Wilhelmsen, one of the largest maritime products and services provider in the world, to jointly develop additive manufacturing enabled commercial solutions for the maritime industry.

Under the Memorandum of Agreement signed by both companies, ThyssenKrupp and Wilhelmsen’s Marine Products division will collaborate on providing 3D-printed components for maritime vessels, leveraging on ThyssenKrupp’s expertise in additive manufacturing alongside Wilhelmsen’s in-depth maritime expertise and direct ongoing experience of developing 3D printing as a service for vessels.

The collaboration will also leverage on the capabilities of the recently inaugurated ThyssenKrupp Tech Center in Singapore and its Global Additive Manufacturing Tech Center in Mulheim, which has been awarded the Approval of Manufacturer certificate by leading quality assurance and risk management firm DNV GL. ThyssenKrupp to invest over €70 million in European warehouses

ThyssenKrupp’s material handling division is to invest more than €70 million in its European warehousing and logistics network.

The company – which claims to be “the western world’s biggest materials distributor” – says automation and digitalization will “significantly boost productivity”.

ThyssenKrupp invests €80 million in ‘world’s most advanced forging line’

ThyssenKrupp is investing €80 million into building what the company describes as “the world’s most advanced forging line” in Homburg, in Germany.

The investment is to expand a front axle production facility for trucks, for which long-term customer contracts have been signed, says the industrial giant.

ThyssenKrupp to provide 155 lifts and 22 escalators to Beijing airport base

As the sole lift supplier to China Southern Airlines’ new Beijing airport base, Thyssenkrupp Elevator is to deliver 155 elevators and 22 escalators to Beijing Daxing Airport, which is currently under construction.

China Southern Airlines has moved to the new mega airport in the south of Beijing as part of its ‘two-hub’ strategy, alongside its current Guangzhou base.

The plans for the airport facilities were designed by architect Sir Norman Foster, while the hexagonal main terminal was designed by Zara Hadid Architects. At approximately 7.5 million sq. feet, it will be the largest terminal in the world.

Additive manufacturing to generate $100 billion in Asean by 2025, says ThyssenKrupp

ThyssenKrupp has presented a white paper on additive manufacturing (AM) potential in the ASEAN region, titled Additive Manufacturing: Adding Up Growth Opportunities for ASEAN.

The white paper provides deep insights and perspectives on the state of additive manufacturing in the ten member countries of ASEAN. There is huge potential for the ASEAN market given its contribution to global manufacturing output.

The paper was developed by ThyssenKrupp with the support and contribution of a multidisciplinary team of experts and partners in Singapore including the global industrial 3D printing leader EOS and the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC).
