ICON sees 20 percent production boost and 40 percent cost reduction through Formic robotics

September 22, 2023 by David Edwards

Formic, a provider of automation across American manufacturing, says its automation partnership with ICON Injection Molding, which involved the deployment of Formic’s Tend solution, has been “successful”.

Arizona-based ICON Injection Molding, which produces plastic parts for laboratory use and defense equipment for clients like Axon, recognized the need to automate but was unable to overcome the barriers of upfront capital, risk, and expertise.

The family-owned business sought to reduce risk to its employees from dangerous, repetitive activities that could potentially lead to injury, staff turnover, operational inefficiencies, and higher prices for end customers. Cambridge Consultants unveils ‘dexterous robot with the human touch’

May 16, 2019 by David Edwards

Technology research and development company Cambridge Consultants has unveiled what it describes as a “dexterous robot with the human touch”. (See video below.)

Breakthrough innovation specialist Cambridge Consultants has developed Hank, a robot with flexible robotic fingers inspired by the human hand.

Hank uses a pioneering sensory system embedded in its pneumatic fingers, providing a sophisticated sense of touch and slip, meaning it can emulate the human ability to hold and grip delicate objects using just the right amount of pressure.

Veo Robotics could make all industrial robots collaborative

April 15, 2019 by Sam Francis

Traditional industrial robots tend to be very large and potentially dangerous, which is why they tend to be caged off and kept separate from human workers.

But a new company called Veo Robotics says it has the technology to transform traditional industrial robotic arms into safe machines that humans can work alongside, within close proximity.

Veo’s solution could make every industrial robot a collaborative robot. The term “collaborative” is recognized by international standards organizations and usually applies to much smaller, newer types of robots which are specifically designed to safe for humans to work with.  [Read more…] about Veo Robotics could make all industrial robots collaborative

Tend has launched a cloud-based monitoring and analysis application for both industrial and collaborative robots.

The company calls the software in.view, and launched it at the RoboBusiness show in Santa Clara, CA, this week.

Tend in.view – short for intelligent view – software allows users to remotely monitor and analyze the performance of their production robots in real time from any location, through a secure, cloud-based application on their mobile device, says the company.  [Read more…] about Tend launches robot performance management software

Tend says its new in.control platform is the first smart cloud robotics platform for remote control, monitoring and analysis of production lines.

Tend announced it has introduced the first hardware-agnostic, smart cloud robotics software platform that allows manufacturers to remotely control, monitor and analyze the performance of their robots and production equipment from their mobile devices.

Tend’s in.control – short for “intelligent control” – software has made smart manufacturing simple and accessible for companies of all sizes, allowing them to monitor and control any robot, tending any machine, from any location.  [Read more…] about Tend claims launch of first ‘smart cloud’ to enable remote control of robots
