AutoX claims it operates ‘China’s largest driverless taxi service area’

AutoX claims it now operates China’s largest service area for fully driverless RoboTaxis across 65 square miles (168 square kilometers) of Shenzhen, China’s leading tech hub. (See video below.)

AutoX is one of the front runners in Level 4 fully autonomous RoboTaxis in China. Its main competition is Baidu Apollo.

Baidu Apollo wins approval for commercialized autonomous car service on open roads in Beijing

Baidu Apollo has received approval for the commercial operation of its autonomous car service in Beijing, as the company’s Apollo Go, known as Luobo Kuaipao in China, was authorized to provide paid service in China’s first-ever demonstration zone for commercial autonomous driving.

With the service’s first-ever commercial deployment on open roads, Apollo Go marks a further step in its accelerating progress towards large-scale commercial operation.

The autonomous vehicle commercial permit granted by the head office of the Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area (BJHAD) today allows Baidu to charge fees for autonomous services offered to the public in a designated area. Cleveron takes first steps towards autonomous delivery in the Netherlands

The Estonian-based technology company Cleveron‘s unmanned autonomous vehicle took on the city of Eindhoven, the Netherlands, to be part of a five-day pilot project carried out by logistics giant DPD Netherlands in partnership with Cleveron.

This marks the start of bringing autonomous delivery services to the public streets of the Netherlands, says Cleveron.

Panasonic partners with DSL Schweisstechnik in robotic welding

Panasonic Robot and Welding System Solutions, a department of Panasonic Factory Solutions, and DSL Schweisstechnik, one of the largest technical distributors of welding hardware in Germany, have agreed a collaboration.

DSL Schweisstechnik will distribute the Panasonic Robot and Welding portfolio, highlighting high-end welding robot solutions such as the Tawers systems, Performarc welding systems or Lapriss laser welding systems for industrial sectors such as automotive or industrial.

With extensive sales and service experience at three locations Mannheim, Nuremberg and Wuerzburg, DSL Schweisstechnik is a valued partner that extends Panasonic Robot and Welding solutions directly to customers in Germany. Flinkster relies on MOQO for the future

Deutsche Bahn has been operating its own car sharing services for 20 years and currently offers the largest car sharing network in Germany. The service has grown to include 4,500 vehicles that can be booked in more than 400 cities and municipalities.

Evocargo unveils autonomous logistics vehicle

Startup company Evocargo has unveiled its autonomous logistics vehicle. The company says it is now ramping up its presence in global smart logistics market.

Evocargo presented its Unmanned logistics platform Evo.1 at the recent Expo 2020 Dubai event.

Speaking at the Dubai Exhibition Center, the founder and chief business development officer of Evocargo International, Andrey Bolshakov, presented a smart logistics service based on self-produced unmanned electric logistics platforms. Motional and Lyft to launch fully driverless ride-hail service in Las Vegas – and other cities

Motional, a developer of driverless technology, and ride-hailing app Lyft are planning to launch a fully driverless public ride-hail service in Las Vegas, the first city in a multimarket rollout.

Motional’s next-generation robotaxis, the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5-based robotaxi, will be available on the Lyft app in Las Vegas, starting in 2023. The implementation is part of a partnership between Motional and Lyft which started last year.

The service will be the first time fully driverless cars for use in a ride-hailing service are available to the public in Nevada. Launched by Aptiv in 2018 and now as Motional, the company has operated a public self-driving service with Lyft in Las Vegas for over three years. Starship Technologies launches robot delivery service at South Dakota State University

Starship Technologies has rolled out its robot food delivery service on the campus of South Dakota State University. SDSU becomes the first campus in the state of South Dakota to implement robot food delivery service.

Starship’s fleet of 30 autonomous, on-demand robots will deliver from three campus eateries to start: Grille Works, Papa Johns and Starbucks. Additional locations will be added soon.

The school’s nearly 14,000 students and faculty can now use the Starship Food Delivery app (iOS and Android) to order food and drinks from local retailers to be delivered anywhere on campus within minutes. Welding and automation integration company Central McGowan completes its third acquisition of the year

Central McGowan, a supplier of gases and technology for manufacturing the upper Midwest and a Fanuc- and Lincoln-authorized integrator, has completed the acquisition of Preferred Welder Sales in Mankato, Minnesota – bringing its acquisition roster for 2021 to three. 

The company acquired Metro Welding Supply in Minneapolis, Minnesota. in April and Fessler Carbonic Gas in Des Moines, Iowa in March.

According to Joe Francis, president/CEO, these acquisitions complement Central McGowan’s current business while strengthening its presence in key market areas. All three of these companies were independently operated, highly successful businesses with owners seeking to retire and wanting a way to continue what they each started. Flytrex expands drone food delivery service to Holly Springs, North Carolina

Flytrex, an on-demand drone delivery for food and retail, has expanded its drone delivery service to Holly Springs, North Carolina.

In partnership with Causey Aviation Unmanned, the Federal Aviation Administration, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, The Town of Holly Springs, and Kite Realty Group Trust, Flytrex has begun delivering food orders via drone in partnership with Brinker International – owner of Chili’s Grill & Bar, It’s Just Wings and Maggiano’s Little Italy – at the Holly Springs Towne Center to front and backyards in the neighborhood of Forest Springs.

Flytrex’s newest service caters to dozens of households in the area who have opted into the service. Flytrex will conduct all flights under Part 107, within visual line of sight, maintaining the highest safety standards.
