Halodi Robotics to supply 140 humanoid robots to security company ADT

March 26, 2022 by David Edwards

Halodi Robotics has signed an agreement to provide 140 humanoid robots to ADT Commercial, a US-based provider of commercial security, fire, life safety and risk consulting services. This is believed to be the largest deal of its kind involving humanoid robots.

The two companies will demonstrate their joint solution at the ISC West trade show in the Las Vegas Convention Center, stand 20019, from March 22-25.

The agreement is the result of the strategic partnership announced in April 2021 where Halodi Robotics secured an investment from ADT Commercial to develop a robot to complement their physical security solutions. Sonatus unveils platform for building software-defined vehicles

February 24, 2022 by Sam Francis

Sonatus, a developer of software defined vehicle technology, has released the next generation of its Sonatus Digital Dynamics Vehicle Platform, which “lives both in-vehicle and in the cloud”, says the company.

Following a successful debut in the Genesis GV60, Sonatus has further enhanced the cloud-side of its platform to bolster automakers’ ability to build software-defined vehicles that can be updated with new features and functionality throughout their entire lifetimes – without requiring new software development.

Given the time and resources required to develop new software, removing this barrier significantly accelerates innovation and bolsters agility, claims Sonatus. [Read more…] about Sonatus unveils platform for building software-defined vehicles

SAIC unveils China’s ‘first’ Level 4 robotic taxi platform

February 15, 2022 by Mai Tao

Chinese carmaker SAIC Motor has officially started the operation of its SAIC Mobility Robotaxi, claiming it to be China’s first Level 4 self-driving platform.

SAIC says its “Robotaxi” employs “superior resources” – from SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company, SAIC Motor AI Lab, autonomous driving technology company Momenta, and its ride-hailing service platform SAIC Mobility – to create a data-driven ecosystem featuring continuing evolution in an effort to explore the application of Level 4 self-driving technology in urban mobility scenarios.

There is a lack of clarity about the term “robotaxi”. So far, most companies have used it as a generic term to mean robotic taxi. None of them has yet trademarked the actual word. SAIC doesn’t seem to have done so either, but has the word on the side of its cars. [Read more…] about SAIC unveils China’s ‘first’ Level 4 robotic taxi platform

Roameo security robot patrolling theme park in US

January 31, 2022 by David Edwards

Roameo, a security robot developed by Robotic Assistance Devices, is patrolling a Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park in the United States, according a report on the InsideTheMagic.net website, which adds that the company is hoping to persuade the Disney company to introduce it to its massively popular theme parks.

Roameo has attracted a lot of attention from other companies and high-profile clients in recent months, and is currently operating at a number of locations.

In November last year, a Romanian security company called Civitas, one of the largest security companies in the country, ordered one Roameo 2.0 unit, with a further commitment to purchase three more units in the future. [Read more…] about Roameo security robot patrolling theme park in US

Amazon introduces home monitoring robot

January 24, 2022 by David Edwards

Amazon has launched a small, humanoid-ish security robot for the home, called Astro, although it’s currently only available “exclusively by invitation”, whatever that means.

The online retail giant, which probably operates the largest fleet of autonomous warehouse robots in the world, says Astro is a “household robot for home monitoring”.

On its website, Amazon adds: “When you’re away, use the Astro app to see a live view of your home, check in on specific rooms and viewpoints, and get activity alerts. [Read more…] about Amazon introduces home monitoring robot

11 Ways that Businesses Can Increase their Security

November 12, 2021 by Mark Allinson

The Internet can be a dangerous place. It’s true that many of the people who are online are good, honest citizens who mean no harm to anyone else.

There are some bad apples, however. There are criminals out there who want to do people harm through both physical and virtual means.

Everyone has all heard about viruses that silently attack computers without the owner’s knowledge or permission, about identity theft that costs innocent victims dearly, and about hackers intent on breaching any system they can find for reasons of curiosity or profit.
