Kivnon unveils three new mobile robots for warehouse work

Kivnon has expanded its mobile robot portfolio with a new range of automated forklifts and a new “rotational lifting” platform automated guided vehicle or autonomous mobile robot.

Kivnon, a specialist in mobile robotics solutions, has unveiled new three models of autonomous vehicles:

  • the K03 Twister;
  • the K50 Pallet Truck; and
  • the K55 Pallet Stacker, capable of circulating around the environment using magnetic guidance or mapping navigation, based on simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology.

RoboDK unveils ‘handheld robot programming’ system

Robot software company RoboDK has released TwinTrack, a tool that allows users to program any industrial robot quickly and easily by tracing the desired motion with a handheld probe. (See video below.) 

As robots move into the hands of less experienced users, there is a growing need for more intuitive programming interfaces that are accessible to everyone. In January 2021, Montreal-based robot software company RoboDK released a new type of flexible, affordable programming tool.

Geek+ and Universal Logic partner to develop warehouse robotics and automation

Savioke says hotels turning to its room service robot

An increasing number of hotels are making enquiries to Savioke about its room service robots, according to the company.

As the hospitality industry struggles to adapt to changing consumer behavior during the coronavirus pandemic, many hotels are turning to room service robots to help wary travelers feel more at ease.

ANYbotics raises $23 million in Series A funding

ANYbotics, a maker of four-legged robots, has raised CHF20 million ($23 million) in its Series A financing round led by Swisscom Ventures.

The startup says the funding will serve to accelerate the commercialization of its autonomous robots for industrial inspection applications.

Mecademic reports ‘increasing demand’ for its tiny robots

Mecademic says it is seeing “increasing demand” for its tiny robots. The company has unveiled a redesigned website partly to reflect the changes in its business.

The Canadian company says the redesign “marks a major leap forward into the international robotics industry”, propelling Mecademic on its mission to facilitate automation for increasingly more industrial companies, research facilities, and manufacturers around the world.

Space robotics market predicted to grow to $5.7 billion by 2027

The global space robotics market size is expected to reach $5.71 billion by 2027, registering a compound annual growth rate of 5.2 percent from 2020 to 2027, according to a new report by Grand View Research. 

Space robotics is gaining traction in recent years owing to the growing exploration of outer space; the need for operations and maintenance of satellites, space stations, and other platforms; and the need for saving cost and mitigating safety issues.

Global food and beverage robotic systems integration market for pick and place application to surpass $40 million by 2025

The global food and beverage robotic system integration market for pick and place application was estimated at $17.5 million in 2017 and is projected to reach $40.1 million by 2025, according to a new market study published by Coherent Market Insights.

The North America market is projected to reach $11.12 million by 2025 with a compound annual growth rate of 11.02 percent. Increasing demand for robotics for application in various industries has become one of the key factors for growth of this market.

According to Robotic Industries Association, in 2015, a total of 31,464 robots valued at $1.8 billion were ordered by North American companies of different industries, an increase of 14 percent in units and 11 percent in revenue over previous year. Robot displays ‘glimmer of empathy’ to partner robot

Columbia University engineers say they have created a robot that learns to visually predict how its partner robot will behave, displaying a glimmer of empathy. This “Robot Theory of Mind” could help robots get along with other robots – and humans – more intuitively.

Like a longtime couple who can predict each other’s every move, a Columbia Engineering robot has learned to predict its partner robot’s future actions and goals based on just a few initial video frames.
