Universal Robots app store now has offers than 500 products

August 5, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Universal Robots, the Danish collaborative robot (cobot) company, has reached a new milestone, says it has now launched over 500 products through its “UR+ ecosystem”, which is like an “app store” for the cobot community built around UR robots, and is also sometimes referred to as a marketplace.

This marks a significant growth in the ecosystem since it started in 2016 with the ambition of making Universal Robots (UR) an open-source-like platform that would empower developers to create groundbreaking solutions.

Today, the UR+ ecosystem offers a wide range of components, kits, applications and solutions within both hardware and software designed to meet various customer needs. [Read more…] about Universal Robots app store now has offers than 500 products

Robotics in the Seafood Industry: Boosting Efficiency and Ensuring Quality

July 25, 2024 by Mark Allinson

The seafood industry, an essential part of our global food supply, is facing a wave of transformation. It’s not just about catching fish anymore; it’s about how we process them efficiently and safely.

With a market value exceeding $160 billion and employing millions worldwide, the industry’s challenges are as vast as the ocean. Labor shortages, high costs, and the need for strict quality control are just a few hurdles.

Statistics show that labor can account for up to 60% of the total operational costs in seafood processing. This is a significant expense, especially when considering the industry’s reliance on manual, labor-intensive tasks.

Vayu Robotics launches ‘world’s first’ on-road delivery robot powered by AI robotics foundation models

July 23, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Consumers rely on e-commerce platforms to deliver groceries, electronics, apparel and more everyday. And while the number of deliveries is skyrocketing – by 2027, 23 percent of American retail purchases are expected to take place online – cost per delivery remains stubbornly high.

In a move to slash the cost of e-commerce deliveries, Vayu Robotics has released what it says is “the world’s first on-road delivery robot that combines the power of modern AI foundation models with lidar-less, low-cost passive sensors’.

Traditional mobile robotics rely on costly lidar sensors and software modules built to do one task at a time, leading to expensive hardware and fragile software unable to handle new scenarios.
