Starship and Grubhub partner to bring robot delivery services to college campuses

Starship Technologies, a provider of autonomous delivery robots, and Grubhub, a food ordering and delivery marketplace, are partnering to provide robot delivery services on college campuses across the United States.

This delivery is currently available at the University of Kentucky, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Wayne State University, Southern Methodist University and Fairfield University, and will be available at multiple other college campuses later this year.

More than 170,000 students will have access to robot deliveries across these campuses, joining the list of over 25 schools across the United States where Starship’s robots provide deliveries with its global fleet of over 2,000 robots. Smart Robotics launches new robotic parcel picker

Smart Robotics, a provider of pick and place automation as a service for warehouses and logistics processes, has launched its newly engineered Smart Parcel Picker.

The picking robot is designed to depalletize and unload an array of containers with parcels, varying in size, surface material and weight.

The company says its Smart Parcel Picker is able to do this at “business-case friendly throughput and performance” – replacing physically straining and repetitive work for warehouse employees at times that the industry is also experiencing growing labour shortages. ABB invests in Scalable Robotics to expand welding systems portfolio

ABB is entering into a strategic partnership with US-based startup Scalable Robotics, to enhance its portfolio of user-friendly robotic welding systems.

Through 3D vision and embedded process understanding, the Scalable Robotics technology allows customers to easily program welding robots without the need for coding.

Stratom demonstrates new autonomous pallet loader vehicle

Stratom, a developer of autonomous ground vehicles and robotic systems for logistics and operational applications, says it has successfully completed field demonstration of its patent-pending ATLAS vehicle, Stratom’s advanced autonomous pallet loader.

Whether operated via tethered remote control or preprogrammed with repeatable operations, Stratom’s ATLAS platform reduces crew needs while loading, unloading and transporting cargo in military and commercial applications, ultimately increasing speed, flexibility, efficiency, dependability and safety.

igus acquires majority stake in Commonplace Robotics

Motion plastics specialist igus is investing in growing its low cost automation activities and has now acquired the majority stake in robot integrator Commonplace Robotics, based in Bissendorf near Osnabrück.

Commonplace Robotics specialises in intuitive control and software as well as power electronics for robotics, in the industrial and educational sectors.

Ferrari calls in Comau to help with robotics learning centre

Industral robotics company Comau says it has developed the “advanced technologies and training solutions” for the educational project e.DO Learning Center, promoted by Ferrari with its ongoing support of an area in Italy.

The Center opened last week in the Istituto Istruzione Superiore (IIS) “Fermo Corni” of Modena (Italy), an Institute of Higher Education and a Secondary School.

The initiative, which highlights the increasing importance of bringing robotics from the factory to an increasing number of new sectors, provides students with a unique learning environment that is both fun and engaging. Neubility and Goggo Network partner to develop autonomous logistics solutions

Neubility, a Korean autonomous robot company, and Goggo Network, a European logistic operator of autonomous vehicles and robots, have signed an agreement to “strengthen autonomous logistics solutions based on robots”.

Two enterprises plan to strengthen collaboration in bringing innovation to robot-based logistics services and improving customer experience.

For that, they will soon debut their pilot delivery services based on Neubility’s autonomous mobile robot Neubie and Goggo Network’s autonomous mobile platform in its tests along different cities of Spain. Start-up EEVE claims ‘thousands’ of customers already using its robots

Start-up company EEVE says it has “thousands” of home robots already working in customers’ homes, mowing their lawns.

And the company’s upcoming model X has two arms and can do multiple tasks, such as weeding, cleaning the patio, mowing, collecting fruit and nuts, collecting litter, serving drinks and even pouring a beer.
