Parallel Systems raises $100 million to bring autonomous freight trains into mainstream logistics

Parallel Systems is developing what it describes as the world’s first autonomous freight train system, as the broader logistics industry increasingly shifts toward automated and autonomous transportation technologies.

The Los Angeles-based company has raised approximately $100 million to date and is currently conducting commercial testing of its autonomous rail vehicles in Georgia in partnership with Genesee & Wyoming under oversight from the Federal Railroad Administration.

Founded in 2020 by former SpaceX engineer Matt Soule, the company is attempting to modernize freight rail using electric, autonomous, software-controlled rail vehicles designed to operate without traditional locomotives or onboard engineers. Locus Robotics, a warehouse automation company, has announced the acquisition of Nexera Robotics, a Vancouver, Canada-based robotics company specializing in advanced robotic grasping.

The integration of Nexera’s proprietary NeuraGrasp end-effector technology into the Locus Robotics physical AI platform significantly expands the company’s autonomous mobile manipulation capabilities and broadens what Locus Array can handle across end-to-end fulfillment workflows.

Automated wind propulsion gains momentum as Maersk Tankers expands suction sail rollout

Maersk Tankers has completed the second installation in an ongoing rollout of automated wind-assisted propulsion systems across its medium-range tanker fleet, as shipping companies increasingly turn to hybrid automation and renewable energy technologies to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

The latest installation saw four 24-meter automated suction sails fitted to the tanker Maersk Tahiti at Chengxi Shipyard in Jiangyin, China.

The systems were supplied by Spanish wind propulsion specialist bound4blue, which is deploying a total of 20 suction sails across five Maersk Tankers vessels under the companies’ current agreement. Comau to acquire Brazilian intralogistics and warehouse automation company Invent

Comau has signed a binding agreement for the acquisition of Invent, a Brazil-based company specializing in intralogistics and warehouse automation solutions, with a strong focus on e-commerce and high-throughput distribution environments.

The closing of the transaction is subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions regarding transactions of this type, including necessary regulatory approvals, and is expected to occur in the third quarter of 2026. Under the terms of the agreement Comau will acquire 100 percent of Invent shares.

After the acquisition of Automha, the binding agreement to acquire Invent represents a further step in Comau’s international expansion strategy and growth plan, which focuses on expanding competencies through the integration of complementary technologies and expertise. Einride deploys autonomous electric trucks in Ohio freight corridor pilot

Einride and EASE Logistics have announced the deployment of SAE Level 4 (L4) Einride autonomous trucks into proof-of-concept service between EASE Logistics warehouses in Marysville, Ohio.

This deployment is an extension of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and DriveOhio’s Truck Automation Corridor Project, in partnership with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), and is designed to evaluate the impact of autonomous technology on operations, safety, and freight efficiency.

Operations will take place on EASE property and local public roads and will utilize two of Einride’s advanced L4 autonomous electric trucks, already successfully operating in real-world daily operations across the United States. Seacon Logistics has selected Dexory to deploy DexoryView across two warehouse locations in Maasbree, the Netherlands. This strengthens the company’s focus on data-driven warehouse operations.

The deployment covers approximately 90,000 square metres of racked warehouse space at Zonneveld 1 and 3, where Seacon Logistics manages general cargo and fast-moving consumer goods under ambient conditions.
