Universal Robots reaches 1,000 employees

Seventeen years after it was founded by three visionary young researchers in a basement, Universal Robots has just reached a 1,000-employee milestone.

10th November, Odense, Denmark. Universal Robots, the biggest company in a fast-growing Danish robotics hub, has become the cluster’s first organisation to reach 1,000 employees – one of only a few Danish companies founded in this millennium to hit this milestone.

RC Mowers introduces new autonomous mowing robot for landscaping industry

RC Mowers, a manufacturer of robotic mowers, has launched a new autonomous mowing robot line to “help landscaping contractors reduce labor needs and scale their businesses to manage fewer employees while improving mowing profitability”.

SoftBank Robotics and Gausium partner to expand robotic solutions across US market

SoftBank Robotics America (SBRA) and Gausium, an autonomous cleaning and service robots provider, have agreed a partnership to deploy indoor automated robotic solutions to the US market.

The partnership will focus on helping companies successfully adopt, integrate, and scale robotic solutions within their organizations.

Busy Beaver partners with Badger Technologies

Badger Technologies, a product division of Jabil and maker of a retail automation robot, says its multipurpose autonomous robots have been selected for some work by Busy Beaver Building Centers, operator of 25 full-line home improvement centers in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

Following a successful pilot launched earlier this year, Badger Technologies is deploying production robots starting at a new store in Delmont, Pennsylvania, where associates seamlessly manage more than 33,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) while embracing the latest in retail automation to improve operations and shopping experiences.

Peer Robotics raises $2.3 million in seed funding round

Peer Robotics, a new mobile robotics solution for manufacturing, has raised $2.3 million in seed funding led by Kalaari Capital, with participation from existing investors Axilor Ventures, Connecticut Innovations and Innopact VC.

Rishabh Agarwal, co-founder, and CEO of Peer Robotics, says: “Small and medium-size companies are struggling with the labor shortage today, not to mention high turn-over.

Telexistence to install AI re-stocking robots in 300 convenience stores across Japan

Telexistence has started the mass production of its originally developed artificial intelligence robot, TX SCARA, to be installed in 300 FamilyMart stores, Japan’s top-tier convenience store chain in major metropolitan areas, starting later this month, validating its AI-based “robot-as-a-service” solution for grocery retailers.

TX SCARA was created to do the specific task of restocking refrigerated shelves with bottles and cans, a repetitive, tedious job generally performed by employees in often uncomfortable settings.

TX SCARA can be in operation 24/7, replenishing shelves at a pace of up to 1,000 bottles and cans per day, relying almost completely on its AI system – known as “GORDON” – to know when and where products need to be placed on the shelves. DHL opens new ‘highly automated’ fulfillment center for flatpack furniture giant IKEA

DHL Supply Chain, Deutsche Post DHL Group’s contract logistics specialist, is opening a new, “highly automated” fulfillment center in Bergkamen, Germany, for its customer, the Swedish flatpack furniture giant IKEA.

The new state-of-the-art DHL facility has been commissioned to help the home furnishings group handle its fast-growing B2C online business in Germany, which grew significantly during the pandemic and required IKEA to rapidly expand its B2C fulfillment capabilities.
