Universal Robots launched its systems in Singapore last year and is now looking to boost robotics literacy through a collaborative robotics course

Current and potential employees in Singapore will soon be able to add robotics literacy, an increasingly important skill, to their CVs as automation gains wide adoption in the country.

Universal Robots, the pioneer and market leader of collaborative robots, has partnered with Singapore’s National Trades Union Congress’ e2i (Employment and Employability Institute), to establish the UR Collaborative Robotics Course.

The course follows the launch of Universal Robots’ free online training platform in 2016, UR Academy, which provides basic programming training on Universal Robots collaborative robots.  [Read more…] about Universal Robots introduces training course in Singapore

Robots have evolved, creating an era where machines are used on the factory floors, in manufacturing warehouses and in logistics.

The robotics industry is booming with global research predicting that the industrial robotics industry is set to surpass $80 billion by 2024.

But does this mean the world is ready to replace man with machine? A daunting concept for some, for others an opportunity to underpin the capabilities of collaborating on a whole new level.  [Read more…] about Industry robotics: How will it affect you?

Collaborative robotics evolving into billion-dollar market

July 20, 2018 by David Edwards

collaborative robots

Cognitive systems are fueling the future of the robotics industry, while the collaborative robotics sector is “morphing into a billion-dollar market”, according to ABI Research.

There is a growing interest within the robotics industry as to the benefits of cognitive systems and how they can improve robotic solutions, both in the incremental sense of improving productivity and the strategic sense of adding entirely new capabilities that broaden the use-cases for robotics in the traditional parameters of the industry and beyond.

The innate value of cognitive systems run concomitant to the development of collaborative robotics, says ABI, which provides strategic guidance on transformative technologies.  [Read more…] about Collaborative robotics evolving into billion-dollar market

4 reasons why collaborative robotics is the answer to SME automation

July 8, 2018 by Sam Francis

cobots image

With technology becoming an integral part of business operations, several organizations are investing in robotics and automation to streamline their processes, create a safe work environment, and boost profitability.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in particular, are increasingly relying on automation to gain a significant increment in their process-and-workforce efficiency.

However, most SMEs are reluctant to invest in robotics as conventional industrial robots are complex, expensive, and require large shop floor space for deployment. Moreover, the payback period for these robots is extremely long, making them expensive for SMEs.  [Read more…] about 4 reasons why collaborative robotics is the answer to SME automation

IMTS: World’s largest industrial technology show to highlight automation trends

July 4, 2018 by David Edwards

imts bin picking

The world‘s largest industrial technology show will highlight key automation trends with a view to helping visitors understand how they will affect manufacturing and other sectors.

Organisers of the International Manufacturing Technology Show – scheduled to take place in Chicago, in the US, from September 10th to 15th – say the event will bring people and automation closer together – literally – with exhibits highlighting the benefits of collaborative robots, or “cobots”.

Mike Cicco, president and CEO, Fanuc America and a board member of the Association for Manufacturing Technology, which owns and produces IMTS, says: “Automation suppliers have made tremendous leaps with software, control and sensor technology that enable quantifying what the robot ‘feels’.  [Read more…] about IMTS: World’s largest industrial technology show to highlight automation trends
