Nauticus Robotics launch new generation of its Aquanauts

April 16, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Nauticus Robotics, a developer of autonomous robots using artificial intelligence for data collection and intervention services for the ocean industries, has launched the first of three second-generation Aquanauts, dubbed the “Mark 2” (MK2).

The Aquanauts will now start commissioning exercises. Following commissioning, Nauticus expects to send the initial Aquanaut MK2 units to the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico in the coming months to support customer initiatives in those regions.

The Aquanaut MK2 is a fully electric, untethered and autonomous subsea robot that is controlled through acoustic communication networking and underpinned by Nauticus’ proprietary software suite, toolKITT. The artificial intelligence-based software suite allows for robotic controls, user interfaces, sensor integration, simulation, data analysis, and communication frameworks purpose-built to enable subsea work. Artificial Intelligence: UNESCO calls on all Governments to implement Global Ethical Framework ‘without delay’

April 8, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Following calls by over 1,000 tech workers this week for a pause in the training of the most powerful AI systems, including Chat GPT, UNESCO is calling on countries to fully implement its Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence immediately.

This global normative framework, adopted unanimously by the 193 Member States of the Organization, provides all the necessary safeguards.

Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO’s Director-General, says: “The world needs stronger ethical rules for artificial intelligence: this is the challenge of our time. [Read more…] about Artificial Intelligence: UNESCO calls on all Governments to implement Global Ethical Framework ‘without delay’

Hengbot unveils ‘world’s first robotic dog with musculoskeletal limbs’

March 24, 2023 by Mai Tao

A startup company called Hengbot has unveiled what it claims is “the world’s first robotic dog with musculoskeletal limbs”.

Named “Sparky”, the canine robot is described as a “breakthrough innovation”, with Hengbot saying that its mission is to “blur the line between technology and life” by developing machines that are agile, nimble, and warm to the touch.

With its musculoskeletal limbs and advanced artificial intelligence, Sparky is a “groundbreaking innovation” that closely resembles a live animal. It can run, jump, and perform tricks just like a real dog, says Hengbot. [Read more…] about Hengbot unveils ‘world’s first robotic dog with musculoskeletal limbs’

Robotic pollinator: A fairy-like robot flies by the power of wind and light

February 8, 2023 by Mark Allinson

The loss of pollinators, such as bees, is a huge challenge for global biodiversity and affects humanity by causing problems in food production. At Tampere University, researchers have now developed the first passively flying robot equipped with artificial muscle. Could this artificial fairy be utilised in pollination?

The development of stimuli-responsive polymers has brought about a wealth of material-related opportunities for next-generation small-scale, wirelessly controlled soft-bodied robots.

For some time now, engineers have known how to use these materials to make small robots that can walk, swim and jump. So far, no one has been able to make them fly.

Researchers of the Light Robots group at Tampere University are now researching how to make smart material fly. Hao Zeng, Academy Research Fellow and the group leader, and Jianfeng Yang, a doctoral researcher, have come up with a new design for their project called FAIRY – Flying Aero-robots based on Light Responsive Materials Assembly. They have developed a polymer-assembly robot that flies by wind and is controlled by light. [Read more…] about Robotic pollinator: A fairy-like robot flies by the power of wind and light

How Artificial Intelligence is Shaping the Future of eCommerce

November 19, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Artificial intelligence is a technology that many people still liken to something from a futuristic movie from days gone by. While to the uninitiated, the words artificial intelligence may conjure up images of humanoid robots, the reality is that AI is already all around and widely adopted throughout society.

Almost everyone has some kind of contact with artificial intelligence on a daily basis. From using the face recognition function to unlock your cell phone to asking Alexa to play your favorite song. So, whether they know it or not, most consumers are already interacting with artificial intelligence and enjoying its benefits every day.

As so many people only have a vague understanding of what artificial intelligence is, it is little surprise to know that its potential goes unrecognized by the public at large. But, one area where the power of artificial intelligence is undoubtedly getting the attention it deserves is the eCommerce industry. What Impact Does Artificial Intelligence Have on VPN Technology?

November 12, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Artificial intelligence is no longer the sole domain of science fiction. Machine learning can be found in your cell phone, car, the internet, and the offline world. Machine learning looks for patterns to build the next generation of AI.

Any correct guesses are then recorded. This replication process is repeated until the algorithm is self-sufficient. However, there are drawbacks to this form of educational technology, the most obvious of which are our privacy, security, and individuality.

Artificial intelligence can gather information invisibly and access individuals’ private data worldwide. The wealthy and powerful can exploit AI. Currently, it assists governments in developing innovative strategies for censoring online information. [Read more…] about What Impact Does Artificial Intelligence Have on VPN Technology?
