Healey-Driscoll Administration grants $1.1 million to Western New England University to support advanced robotic welding technologies

The Healey-Driscoll Administration has announced a $1.1 million investment to fund a three-year project at Western New England University (WNE) that fosters the establishment of a research and training cluster in advanced robotic welding technologies.

The award will support a collaborative project between WNE’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing Systems (CAMS) that will work with Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and local industry partners to grow the advanced welding cluster and deliver new highly skilled workers to employers in the region.

The cutting-edge welding technologies have several applications in high-growth industries, including offshore wind, electric vehicles, aerospace, and manufacturing for national defense capabilities, such as submarines. The digital crystal ball: Predicting the next move forward for sales intelligence

In a letter to French physicist Jean-Baptiste Le Roy, in 1789, Benjamin Franklin wrote (of the new American states): “Our new Constitution is now established and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

But in a modern context, it would be safe to paraphrase Franklin and update his assertion to “nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and the advancement of artificial intelligence”.

Locus Robotics picks ‘record-breaking’ 331 million units during holiday season

Locus Robotics, a provider of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for fulfilment warehouses, has released its annual Cyber Week recap, which reports a record-breaking 331 million units picked globally on behalf of its retail and third-party logistics partners, a 66 percent increase over last year.

LocusBots picked almost 7 million average daily units, an increase of 107 percent compared with 2022.

ForwardX Robotics AMRs fulfill more than 26 million orders during global shopping spree

The boom of e-commerce in recent years has significantly transformed the global business landscape, as evidenced by the remarkable growth in global e-commerce sales.

This year, a record-breaking $9.8 billion was spent by Black Friday shoppers in the US.

The global shopping festival, known as Singles Day or Double 11, saw over 640 million parcels delivered on November 11th alone and in 2022 brought in an estimate $140.5 billion in sales during the 11-day extravaganza. Pipedream Partners with Curiosity Lab to launch ‘world’s first’ underground autonomous logistics network

Peachtree Corners, one of the America’s first smart cities powered by real-world connected infrastructure and 5G, has launched what it says is “the world’s first below-ground autonomous robot delivery system”. 

The project partner is Pipedream, the underground logistics network that is “revolutionizing the way goods are delivered”.

Peachtree Corners’ government and its partners say the new delivery system is bringing consumers “unprecedented convenience through faster, autonomous, efficient and cost-effective transportation channels”.
