According to its owners, “experience, tradition and passion” are the values which ensure the five-star quality at the five-brother company Bühler Bedachungen und Bauspenglerei from Romanshorn in Switzerland, a business specializing in roofing and architectural sheet metal.

Quality is the top priority for the family business – particularly when it comes to selecting its partners and suppliers.

Among these is the Swiss company Jorns, which supplied the new double bending machine, model TP-150G-RH-UV-SL-1250-CP200-6.4-mp, including safety concept for the architectural sheet metal area as well as the manufacturer for optical sensors, which ensures the corresponding safety at work for man and machine, Leuze electronic.  [Read more…] about ‘Experience, tradition and passion’ forges business partnerships for Buhler

Digital manufacturing: An overview of an increasingly complex scenario

November 17, 2017 by Sam Francis

digital manufacturing

Digitalisation is, in essence, simple. It means exactly what the word implies – the digitalisation of everything.

But as simple as it sounds, digitalisation can be applied to any business in any sector, and that is what makes it difficult to provide a simple overview.

If we stick to one sector – manufacturing – that might make it more manageable.

But since manufacturing is already a hugely complex endeavour, the process of digitalisation – even in this one single sector – encompasses so many different disciplines that it’s difficult to think of it as being, essentially, simple.

But enough complaining about having to do some work for a change, let’s get on with the show.  [Read more…] about Digital manufacturing: An overview of an increasingly complex scenario

The boss of one of the world’s largest beer, spirits, and soft drinks companies says he is looking forward to fully automated breweries in the future.

Speaking at a Nikkei Global Management Forum, Naoki Izumiya, CEO of Asahi, said it’s no good crying into your beer about the effects of automation – that can only lead to self-destruction.

Robotics and automation reshaping Thailand’s economy, as it looks to sell more industrial robots

November 10, 2017 by David Edwards

thailand factory robots

Asian country’s government-backed investment organisation talks up ‘Thailand 4.0’, highlighting the industrial robot manufacturing sector, where sales are forecast to increase by 133 per cent from 2,131 units in 2013 to 7,500 units in 2018 – and it’s offering huge tax breaks to achieve it

Thailand has been doing well as a result of globalisation, but with increasing attention to, and investment in robotics, the country is looking to further accelerate its development.

Authorities in the country have launched something they call “Thailand 4.0” – based on Industry 4.0 – which essentially refers to the greater levels of internet connectivity in the industrial sector.

And even if the country’s industrial sector has been doing well, greater levels of connectivity would elevate operations to a higher level, or create value, as the authorities see it.  [Read more…] about Robotics and automation reshaping Thailand’s economy, as it looks to sell more industrial robots
