Caracol takes part in installation at Milan Design event

April 11, 2025 by Mark Allinson

In collaboration with Decibel and Vizcom, Caracol brings its cutting-edge robotic additive manufacturing technology to PORTAL, a living design installation debuting at Alcova (Former SNIA Factory, Room SN7a) during Milan Design Week 2025 (April 7-13, 2025).

Created by Decibel and Charles Birshaw, PORTAL explores the future of sustainable furniture design through Vizcom’s AI-assisted creative tools, circular production models, and robotic additive manufacturing.

Set within the abandoned SNIA factory – a raw, post-industrial space now overtaken by nature – PORTAL presents a striking juxtaposition: high-tech fabrication meets organic decay. [Read more…] about Caracol takes part in installation at Milan Design event

SAE International launches 12-week robotics for autonomous vehicle systems training ‘Bootcamp’

April 14, 2021 by Elaine

Virtual 12-week experience provides career development opportunities for engineers entering the fast-growing autonomous vehicles industry

SAE International has announced the new 12-week Robotics for Autonomous Vehicle Systems Bootcamp for recent graduates and/or entry-level mechanical, electrical and computer science engineers joining the industry to support autonomous vehicle (AV) system development.

In partnership with Clemson University and Argo AI, SAE designed the rigorous, virtual-only workforce development experience to provide participants with an in-depth technical understanding of how to build autonomous systems.

“Companies can spend upwards of 10 months onboarding entry-level AV positions, which in this fast-moving industry can directly hinder the development and deployment cycles. The Robotics for Autonomous Vehicle Systems Bootcamp aims to support both employers and professionals by bridging the training gap through an accelerated 12-week bootcamp,” said Elizabeth Melville, director of learning at SAE International. BlueBotics to give digital demonstration of path to mobile robot development

April 2, 2021 by David Edwards

BlueBotics, a provider of autonomous navigation technology, is attending this year’s ProMat Digital Experience (DX) event to highlight how it can help smooth the path to successful automated guided vehicle and mobile robot development, installation and operation.

During the digital event, which runs from April 12 to 16, BlueBotics will explain and fully demonstrate the benefits of its ANT natural feature navigation – ranging from quick and simple vehicle installation to robust, accurate ongoing operations and cross-platform fleet scale-up, whereby a growing range of diverse ANT driven vehicles can adapt to a business’ evolving needs.

BlueBotics’ team of autonomous navigation experts will be on hand via the company’s showcase page to answer visitor questions and to arrange any meetings required to dive deeper into any company’s specific AGV development or investment needs. Kuka unveils robotics for modern treatment of tumors

January 25, 2021 by David Edwards

A Munich therapy center uses a medical product with an integrated Kuka robot as a high-precision instrument in tumor treatment.

The CyberKnife system of Accuray, a kind of virtual knife, is an alternative to conventional radiotherapy.

Thanks to high-precision robot- and image-guided irradiation, the CyberKnife Center in Munich is able to treat tumors anywhere in the body – from the brain to the spinal column to various organs, such as the lungs, liver, kidneys or prostate.
