Kodiak surpasses 50,000 autonomous long-haul trucking miles in delivery collaboration with JB Hunt and Bridgestone
J.B. Hunt, one of the largest supply chain solutions providers in North America, Bridgestone, the famous tire brand, and Kodiak Robotics, an autonomous trucking company, are celebrating a successful ongoing weekly delivery collaboration that has surpassed 50,000 autonomous long-haul trucking miles, incorporating Kodiak autonomous trucks to ship Bridgestone passenger car tires between South Carolina and Dallas.
Since launching in January, the autonomous route has been driven with no accidents and achieved 100 percent on-time pick-up and delivery, and the companies have expanded the collaboration to include additional weekly deliveries along the route.
Utilizing Kodiak’s hub-to-hub autonomous delivery model, the long-haul stretch of the route from Atlanta to Dallas – approximately 750 miles and 16 hours – is completed using Kodiak autonomous driving technology, which is fitted with Bridgestone M719 drive tires and R213 steer tires. Yaskawa Electric, one of the world’s largest industrial robot manufacturers, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan’s Astellas Pharma to start talks about building what they describe as “an innovative cell therapy platform by combining robotics and pharmaceutical technologies”.
The MOU is a legally non-binding agreement on a partnership between the two companies, and specific discussions will proceed from now on.
Based on this MOU, the two companies aim to jointly build a new cell therapy platform that may potentially seamlessly bridges the initial stage of research in the cell therapy field to its commercialization, enabling high quality manufacturing of cell therapy products as well as shortening the research and development period. Fanuc opens new $110 million robotics and automation campus in Michigan
Fanuc America, one of the world’s largest suppliers of robotics and automation systems, has officially unveiled its new 650,000 square foot West Campus facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The expansion increases the footprint in Michigan to over 2 million square feet and is part of Fanuc America’s strategic investment plan to support and advance industrial automation in North America. The West Campus represents a $110 million investment built on 67 acres of land.
Fanuc America’s industry growth and customer demand has created over 400 jobs in Michigan since 2019. The West Campus provides advanced product manufacturing and customized automation systems and includes warehouse space for over 6,000 quick delivery robots and tens of thousands of parts. Kuehne+Nagel integrates 50 Libiao autonomous mobile robots into its Châtres, France warehouse
Global logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel has introduced a new robotized order sorting system from Libiao Robotics at its multi-client Châtres warehouse, situated south-west of Paris, France.
The new technology is designed to improve productivity, accommodate high volumes during peak times, develop collaborative technologies to support human resources, and reduce repetitive manual tasks.
