Digital manufacturing startup Bright Machines raises $132 million in new funding

Bright Machines, a startup which describes itself as “an innovator in software-defined manufacturing”, has raised $132 million in debt and Series B equity funding.

The equity portion of the funding, worth $100 million, was led by Eclipse Ventures. The debt portion of the funding, worth $32 million, was led by Silicon Valley Bank, and Hercules Capital.

Bright Machines intends to use the funds to accelerate the company’s growth, which includes continued expansion into high-demand industry verticals, and the development of new software and service offerings to complement its existing portfolio of products. Starship and Grubhub partner to bring robot delivery services to college campuses

Starship Technologies, a provider of autonomous delivery robots, and Grubhub, a food ordering and delivery marketplace, are partnering to provide robot delivery services on college campuses across the United States.

This delivery is currently available at the University of Kentucky, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Wayne State University, Southern Methodist University and Fairfield University, and will be available at multiple other college campuses later this year.

More than 170,000 students will have access to robot deliveries across these campuses, joining the list of over 25 schools across the United States where Starship’s robots provide deliveries with its global fleet of over 2,000 robots. ABB integrates ASTI and rebrands autonomous mobile robot portfolio as Flexley

ABB has launched its first range of rebranded autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) following its acquisition of mobile robot startup ASTI Mobile Robotics in 2021.

Since adding AMRs to its portfolio, ABB claims it is “the only company with a comprehensive and integrated offering of robots, AMRs and machine automation solutions”.

Doosan Robotics agrees partnership with Industrial Automation Supply

Scythe Robotics receives 7,000 orders for its autonomous law mowers

Scythe Robotics has received 7,000 orders for its autonomous law mowers, according to a report The Denver Post website.

The startup company says it plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Colorado to be able to handle the orders, adding that its mowers have received strong interest from all across the United States.

Scythe Robotics specializes in building commercial-grade autonomous robotic solutions for the landscaping industry, and its first offering is an all-electric, fully autonomous mower, designed completely in-house.
