What Makes Robot Vacuums A Must-Have Home Appliance?

June 20, 2023 by David Edwards

A robot vacuum is a convenient smart cleaning device that saves you a lot of time. While some might argue that it’s more of a luxury rather than a necessity, there are certain features that make robot vacuums a must-have for your home.

These features are things that you simply won’t get with a traditional vacuum.

Apart from the obvious convenience that comes from automating the cleaning process, robot vacuums offer excellent versatility, integration with smart homes, and pet-friendly features. [Read more…] about What Makes Robot Vacuums A Must-Have Home Appliance?

Aerobotix partners with FerRobotics to develop ‘first-of-its-kind’ end-of-arm-tool automated sander for flammable dust

September 15, 2022 by David Edwards

Aerobotix and FerRobotics, two robotics companies based in the US and Austria respectively, have partnered to create what they say is the first Class II, Division 1 (C2D1) End of Arm Tool (EOAT) automated sander.

Meeting industry demand for a hazardous-environment solution that will achieve time and cost efficiencies, and enable much safer work environments, this special orbital sander – based on the industry-proven Active Orbital Kit (AOK) with patented Active Compliant Technology – lessens human involvement in hazardous tasks.

Each year, according to the International Labour Organization, tens of millions of workers globally are afflicted with silicosis, an incurable lung disease caused by crystalline silica dust inhalation, leading to thousands of deaths. ABB robot enhanced with protection for harsh and cleanroom applications

April 29, 2021 by David Edwards

ABB says its 6-axis IRB 1300 industrial robot now includes new protection elements that enable it to be used in tough industrial applications and contamination-free production processes.

The company says the enhancements open up new opportunities for increased productivity, improved product quality and reduced cycle times in a variety of industries including electronics assembly, automotive and metals fabrication, among others.

Originally launched in 2020, the IRB 1300 is now available in IP67, Foundry Plus 2 and cleanroom ISO 4 versions. This will expand its use in tough environments, with high levels of liquids and dust. [Read more…] about ABB robot enhanced with protection for harsh and cleanroom applications

Dust Collector vs Vacuum Cleaner

November 13, 2020 by Polly

I had just bought my new dream home, but one thing was obvious the day that I walked into it was which cleaning system I would need to work smarter and not harder.

After my finances had been depleted by buying a new home, I was not able to hire cleaning help and so I knew I would have to do it by myself.

And I didn’t want it to be time consuming. So, I thought about whether I should buy one of the new models of vacuum cleaners or a dust cleaner. I had to do some research and learned a few things or two about the difference between vacuum cleaners and dust cleaners as it relates to house cleaning. The Damage to Machinery You Don’t Always Notice

August 12, 2020 by Polly

When someone talks about technology being damaged, what are some of the first things you imagine in your head? Maybe a smartphone being dropped screen first onto asphalt. A car crash, maybe. How about those videos of people throwing laptops off of stairs.

But there are other types of damage that you don’t always notice, as they’re not as visible and seem to fly right under people’s radar. Things like dust, the weather, even the Sun can cause serious harm to machinery without anyone even realizing it. So then, what is this damage, and how to avoid it? BMW applies AI dust particle analysis to ‘increase paint shop quality’

June 9, 2020 by David Edwards

BMW says it uses an “ongoing algorithm-based analysis” of dust content in vehicle paint booths and compares them to a database to predict the quality of coating it applies to cars

Artificial intelligence can bring even greater precision to controlling highly sensitive systems in automotive production, as a pilot project in the paint shop of the BMW’s Munich plant has demonstrated.

Despite state-of-the-art filtration technology, the content of finest dust particles in paint lines varies depending on the ambient air drawn in. If the dust content exceeded the threshold, the still wet paint could trap particles, thus visually impairing the painted surface.

AI specialists from what BMW calls its “central planning” and the Munich plant have now found a way to avoid this situation altogether: every freshly painted car body must undergo an automatic surface inspection in the paint shop. Danfoss supplies automation drives to limestone quarry

January 26, 2020 by David Edwards

Fearless of the difficult applications – dust and bad weather – the Danfoss VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 was chosen to ensure efficient production of 800,000 tons of hard limestone at the Roussas quarry (main picture).

With an annual cement production capacity of 60 million tons and 42 cement plants across four continents, Italcementi Group is a leading global supplier of construction materials.

The group is a major player in the French building-material market; in the cement business through Ciments Calsia, in the ready-mix concrete sector through Unibéton and in aggregates production and supply with GSM. [Read more…] about Danfoss supplies automation drives to limestone quarry

ABB launches new robot and controller

January 9, 2020 by Sam Francis

ABB is introducing a new harsh environment version of its IRB 1100 robot and OmniCore controller, designed with enhanced protection against water and dust.

The entire body of the new IRB 1100 model has an IP67 rating, with all electrical components sealed against contaminants.

This makes it resistant to water and provides the robot with “complete protection from dust ingress”, claims ABB. [Read more…] about ABB launches new robot and controller
