Astrodyne TDI, a manufacturer of power electronics, power distribution units, and EMI filters, has opened its new “state-of-the-art manufacturing facility” in Penang, Malaysia.

This development marks a “significant milestone in our company’s growth and commitment to serving our customers with leading-edge manufacturing capabilities”, it says.

Mercadona calls in Cimcorp Automation to help move fresh produce from field to store within 24 hours

Mercadona, a large grocery retailer in Spain and Portugal, has brought in Cimcorp Automation to further automate fresh food intralogistics at its distribution center in San Isidro, Spain.

Equipped with Cimcorp’s robotic solution, Mercadona says it now delivers fresh produce from field to store within 24 hours, thereby increasing shelf life for products, minimizing food waste, and ensuring freshness for customers.

Automation has also helped Mercadona improve workplace safety and satisfaction for its employees. Associated Food Stores selects Symbotic to implement warehouse automation system

Associated Food Stores (AFS), a provider of groceries and other goods and services to independent retailers in nine Intermountain states, and Symbotic, a developer of AI-enabled robotics technology for the supply chain, have entered into a commercial agreement to implement Symbotic’s robotic warehouse automation technology in AFS’ Utah distribution center.

Symbotic says its end-to-end automation system, with robotic case pick capabilities, will allow AFS’ distribution center to “improve a variety of retail-facing experiences”, including overall supply, expanded selection and delivery of products to stores.

Körber develops new robotic system for de-palletizing pallets to trays

Körber Supply Chain says it has “solved” the pallet-to-tray issues many warehouses face – the company has developed a new “turnkey system solution” for de-palletizing pallets to trays.

With the launch of a new de-palletization system, Körber Supply Chain claims it has become “the first supplier of automated logistics solutions to offer a total turnkey solution for the separation of goods from pallet to tray”.

Smart Robotics launches new robotic mixed case palletizer

Smart Robotics, a warehouse robotics and automation specialist, has launched its Smart Mixed Case Palletizer, an industrial robot pick and place station.

Smart Robotics says the system is designed to improve warehouse delivery speed by removing one of the biggest bottlenecks – manual palletizing of mixed products or stock-keeping units (SKUs).

By using warehouse automation, the robot enables another step towards touchless shipping and allows large distribution centres to pre-sort to multiple destinations without increasing full-time equivalent employees (FTEs) in shipping. A deep-learning based technology, TrailerConnect is now available as part of the Outrider System, which automates distribution yards for large, logistics-dependent enterprises.
