Human-like hands for robots move one step closer with Italian scientist’s invention

July 28, 2022 by David Edwards

An Italian scientist has invented a robotic end effector that could bring the goal of robots having human-like hands one step closer.

Corrado De Pascali and his colleagues on the Italian Institute of Technology have unveiled an end effector which uses tiny, 8-gram actuators to power many different joints in the complex component.

According to report in New Scientist and several other outlets, the actuators – although small – can actually lift “1,000 times their own weight”. [Read more…] about Human-like hands for robots move one step closer with Italian scientist’s invention

Robotic pets: How to choose and what you should know about them

July 22, 2022 by David Edwards

Communication with pets helps reduce stress levels, distracts from troubles and reduces anxiety. There is even a method of treatment – pet therapy. Four-legged pets make a person move more and expand their social circle – after all, pet lovers will always find common topics for conversation.

Communication with animals is especially useful for older people with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, for children with mental disorders and for patients who are in the hospital for a long time. Pets save them from loneliness, help overcome depression, reduce anxiety and irritability.

But sick people can’t always get a cat or a dog – they can’t take care of them, and nursing home residents and hospital patients aren’t allowed to keep animals. It’s for such people that they made companion robots. [Read more…] about Robotic pets: How to choose and what you should know about them

How is Artificial Intelligence Revolutionizing the Educational Sector?

May 1, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Technological advancement is helping many sectors and industries and this is also helpful in the educational sector too.

The role of technological advancement especially in the form of Artificial Intelligence in the educational sector was realized very strongly during the Covid-19 pandemic when the students were forced to engage in remote learning.

Even though the pandemic has subsided, remote learning and remote working are still relevant and as a result, hybrid education is something that has become a trend. [Read more…] about How is Artificial Intelligence Revolutionizing the Educational Sector?

How Robotic Process Automation is Impacting Key Industries

March 3, 2022 by David Edwards

Necessity is considered one of the major reasons for invention. But the IT world does not compromise in coming up with innovations that are revolutionary. It all started with reducing the manpower, cutting off the cost and having reached the sole aim of pacing up.  [Read more…] about How Robotic Process Automation is Impacting Key Industries

Flexiv unveils new operating system for its adaptive robots

February 23, 2022 by Mai Tao

Flexiv, a developer of robotic and artificial intelligence solutions, has unveiled Flexiv Elements, its all-new operating system for “adaptive robots”.

Adaptive robots are a new category – very similar to collaborative robots – which Flexiv is concentrating on. It describes its “Rizon” model (main picture) as “the first adapative robot” – referring to its ability to maintain performance even amid significant changes in the environment, such as floating base, vibration, and human interference.

Created to provide integrators with “ground-breaking new features” which simplify complex robotic operations, Flexiv says Elements makes it “easier than ever” before to develop customized programs that enhance efficiency and productivity. Purdue scientists build a chip that makes connections like a human brain

February 18, 2022 by David Edwards

An electronic chip that can be reprogrammed on demand may enable artificial intelligence to learn more continuously like the human brain does, researchers have discovered.

When the human brain learns something new, it adapts. But when artificial intelligence learns something new, it tends to forget information it already learned.

As companies use more and more data to improve how AI recognizes images, learns languages and carries out other complex tasks, a paper published in Science this week shows a way that computer chips could dynamically rewire themselves to take in new data like the brain does, helping AI to keep learning over time. How Important is Technology in Automation?

February 16, 2022 by David Edwards

Manufacturers face a variety of challenges in today’s evolving world. With security in mind, it is important to create processes to incorporate security into your operations and productivity.

When everyone is looking for ways to maintain social distance and monitor activity on the operating system, it can be difficult to promote and improve safety while maintaining productivity as well.

Automated systems not only reduce the risk of accidents but also help prevent occupational accidents, resulting in a safer workplace for all. By making your workplace safer, you also improve quality and productivity. [Read more…] about How Important is Technology in Automation?

Winter Olympics provide China opportunity to showcase its robots

February 1, 2022 by Mai Tao

The Winter Olympics – or Beijing 2022 – are under way in China, and the country’s roboticists are using it as an opportunity to show off their technologies.

This is not unexpected, of course. Japan used the Summer Olympics to showcase its engineering prowess in the area of vehicle technologies as well as robots.

In fact, there’s probably less robotic showing off going on in Beijing than one might have expected, given that China is now the world’s largest buyer of robots. It’s also now the world’s largest car market, much of which is slowly becoming autonomous. [Read more…] about Winter Olympics provide China opportunity to showcase its robots

2022 Healthtech Forecast: Record-Breaking Technology Expansion

January 12, 2022 by David Edwards

Artificial intelligence (AI) research has become one of the most active areas in computer science, with an expectation that AI will help to solve many problems in healthcare.

The use of AI technology in healthcare is poised to dramatically improve medicine over the next few years as researchers find new ways to integrate it into patient care and clinical operations.

In 2021, WHO issued its first report on Artificial Intelligence in health. The report is the result of 2 years of consultations held by a panel of experts. [Read more…] about 2022 Healthtech Forecast: Record-Breaking Technology Expansion
