Hyundai partners with Samsung Engineering to unveil robotic system for piping and steel frame manufacturing

Hyundai Robotics has signed a deal with Samsung Engineering for the “construction of the Smart Piping Shop” and a business agreement for “the automation of steel frame manufacturing”.

Seo Yoo Seong, COO of Hyundai Robotics, and Choi Sung-an, president of Samsung Engineering, attended the signing ceremony held at Samsung GEC (Global Engineering Center) in Sangil-dong, Gangdong-gu recently.

Daimler and Volvo launch €1.2 billion venture to develop hydrogen fuel-cell technology for trucks

Volvo Group and Daimler Trucks have entered into a joint venture to develop, produce and commercialize hydrogen fuel-cell systems for use in heavy-duty trucks as the primary focus, as well as other applications.

The ambition of both partners is to make the new company a leading global manufacturer of fuel cells, and thus help the world take a major step towards climate-neutral and sustainable transportation by 2050.

Volvo will acquire 50 percent of the partnership interests in Daimler Truck Fuel Cell for approximately €600 million on a cash and debt-free basis. Hyundai Robotics to automate fast-food production for KFC

Hyundai Robotics is entering the food technology market in cooperation with the global chicken franchise, KFC.

Hyundai Robotics has signed an agreement outlining “research and co-operation in automated production manufacturing” with KFC at the restaurant chain’s Eungam restaurant in Seoul, South Korea.

Kivnon awarded AGV project by US truck-making giant Navistar

Kivnon has been awarded an automated guided vehicle (AGV) project by Navistar, a top manufacturer of commercial trucks and other large vehicles in the USA.

Navistar has chosen Kivnon’s automation solutions for its new manufacturing plant in Texas.

The international group Kivnon, which specializes in the automation of industrial processes using self-guided vehicles (AGVs/AMRs), expands its presence in the American market through a contract agreement with Navistar to provide a complete mobile robotics solution and bring automation to their new assembly plant. Severstal expands automation capabilities with second investment in Airborne

PAO Severstal, one of the world’s largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, has led a second tranche of investment into Dutch company Airborne, a developer of digital automation platforms for the production of composite parts and products with integrated composites.

The total investment in Airborne has already amounted to “several tens of millions of dollars”, says Severstal.

In spite of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which has led to many venture projects on the global market being placed on hold, Severstal led the new investment in Airborne with support of existing shareholders including HPE Growth. Amazon signs up Balyo to provide robotic solutions

French robotics software startup Balyo has signed a seven-year commercial agreement with Amazon on robotic solutions.

Balyo says the deal is a “decisive step” in its development, and supports the added value of its robotic solutions and will potentially boost their deployment.

BlueBotics signs up South Korean distributor

BlueBotics, the global reference in natural feature navigation for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), has further strengthened its footprint in Asia by announcing a new distribution agreement with South Korean motion and control pioneer MacPion.

Honeywell equips Middle East Airlines with new cockpit tech

Honeywell has signed a selection agreement with Middle East Airlines, the national flag-carrier airline of Lebanon, to provide cockpit technologies to support the airline’s new fleet of 19 aircraft.

The deal, which includes four of Airbus’ latest variant, the A321XLR, will see Honeywell provide its latest full avionics suite to help Middle East Airlines maximize safety and ensure regulatory compliance.

Honeywell to extend maintenance services agreement with Saudi Arabian Airlines

Honeywell has been selected by Saudi Arabian Airlines to extend maintenance services for auxiliary power units (APUs) installed on the airline’s fleet of Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft.

The two companies are extending their current partnership, which will enable SAUDIA to structure their fleet and APU maintenance planning in line with the needs of their fleet expansion program.

ExRobotics and Yokogawa to develop robotics for inspection of hazardous environments

ExRobotics and Yokogawa Electric have signed a licensing agreement that will enable Yokogawa to sell and deploy ExRobotics’ inspection robot hardware and software platforms worldwide.

ExRobotics is a Netherlands-based developer of robotics technology for hazardous environments, and Yokogawa Electric Corporation is a global provider of industrial automation, control, and measurement technology.

ExRobotics was established in 2017 to commercialise robotics technology for use in the potentially explosive atmospheres found at oil and gas production and processing facilities, which are often in remote locations with harsh environments.
