Horizon and Wind River partner to develop autonomous vehicle solutions

Wind River, a developer of software for mission-critical intelligent systems, has agreed a strategic collaboration with Horizon Robotics to advance smart driving solutions.

Horizon is a leading provider of energy-efficient computing solutions for advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) for consumer vehicles in China.

The collaboration between the two companies will enable OEMs to leverage a fully integrated ADAS hardware/software solution based on Horizon’s Journey series computing solutions and the Wind River cloud-to-edge portfolio. ACEINNA launches ‘high performance’ inertial measurement unit for autonomous vehicles robots, and ADAS

ACEINNA has announced the general availability of the IMU330RA high performance inertial measurement unit (IMU).

ACEINNA’s new IMU330RA is an easy-to-integrate, high-performance 6-DOF inertial sensor packaged in a ruggedized, sealed over-molded plastic housing at IP69K level.

The IMU330RA features a redundant 3-Axis Accelerometer and 3-Axis Rate Gyroscope sensors for excellent accuracy and reliability.

Be afraid. Be slightly afraid: Drivers feel ‘increasingly anxious’ about autonomous cars

The results of AAA’s annual automated vehicle survey show that while there is still a high level of interest in partially-automated vehicle technology, attitudes toward fully self-driving vehicles have become increasingly apprehensive.

This year there was a major increase in drivers who are afraid, rising to 68 percent as compared to 55 percent in 2022. This is a 13 percent jump from last year’s survey and the biggest increase since 2020.

AAA believes automakers must be diligent in creating an environment that promotes the use of more advanced vehicle technologies in a secure, reliable, and educational manner. NXP introduces new chip range for ADAS and autonomous vehicles

NXP Semiconductors, the market share leader in automotive radar according to Yole Intelligence, has introduced what it says is “a new industry-first” 28nm RFCMOS radar one-chip IC family for next generation ADAS and autonomous driving systems.

The new SAF85xx one-chip family combines NXP’s high performance radar sensing and processing technologies into a single device, offering tier ones and OEMs new flexibility in addressing short, medium and long range radar applications to serve ever more challenging NCAP safety requirements.

Rotary partners with TEXA to offer new ADAS solutions

Rotary, part of Vehicle Service Group (VSG) and Dover, has agreed a partnership with TEXA, a company involved in the design, development and production of diagnostic tools for the vehicle repair industry.

The companies say the partnership will enable Rotary to expand its automotive service offerings.

LeddarTech has raised investment of $140 million, which comprises a Series D first close of $116 million and debt facility of $24 million.

LeddarTech is a developer of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving sensing technology.

FS Investors led the financing round with the participation of Investissement Québec, BDC Capital, Go Capital, certain funds managed by Fidelity Investments Canada ULC, Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Export Development Canada, ams Osram, Desjardins Capital, UI Investissement, Cowen Investment II LLC and other LeddarTech management. Auto systems giant Magna acquires autonomous shuttle startup Optimus Ride

Magna, one of the world’s largest producers of automotive components and systems, has acquired autonomous shuttle startup Optimus Ride for an undisclosed amount.

Magna says the agreement has resulted in the company adding more than 120 employees of Optimus Ride to its books.

Advanced technology adoption will make Indian roads ‘accident-proof’

A relatively new company called Hi Tech Robotic Systemz (THRSL) says India’s Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s vision for Indian roads will make vehicles “accident-proof”.

In a recent meeting of the National Road Safety Council (NRSC), the minister advocated for fixed driving hours for commercial truck drivers like that of pilots, as well as a policy mandating on-board sleep detection sensors in commercial vehicles to reduce road accidents in India and give relief to truck drivers.
