5 Reasons Compressed Air Testing Is Essential in Manufacturing

September 16, 2020 by Polly

There are several reasons why testing is a necessity in manufacturing. It’s essential for safety, security, and quality assurance purposes.

All kinds of businesses are now moving toward automation, affecting how processes are carried out.

Thus, the need for improved performance and reduced downtime makes testing an essential component of the work. [Read more…] about 5 Reasons Compressed Air Testing Is Essential in Manufacturing

ABB unveils its customized automotive painting system PixelPaint

September 15, 2020 by Liv

ABB says its new PixelPaint system is 50 percent faster and more sustainable, using an inkjet head to eliminate overspray, ensuring two-tone paint and individual designs are applied in one pass, without masking and de-masking.

Millennials are driving demand for greater individualization, increasing the need for customized vehicle paint schemes, using either a second color, a different paint finish such as matte, or a special design.

Previously, applying a two-tone or customized design onto bodywork was a time and labor-intensive process that required the vehicle to be put through the painting line twice, once for the first layer and then, after the areas had been masked, again for the second color. Ensenso 3D stereo camera system imitates human vision to make robotic inspection cells faster and more accurate

September 14, 2020 by Elaine

The new Ensenso 3D stereo industrial camera system “imitates human vision” to make robotic inspection cells “faster and more accurate”, according to Imaging Development Systems (IDS).

Each Ensenso camera system contains two 2D IDS cameras to view the scene from different positions, similar to the way human eyes work, with artificial intelligence processing the data, rather like the human brain does.

“Special matching algorithms compare the two images, search for corresponding points and visualize all point displacements in a disparity map,” explains IDS. “This is then used to calculate depth information for the resulting point cloud.” [Read more…] about Ensenso 3D stereo camera system imitates human vision to make robotic inspection cells faster and more accurate

Bosch installs traffic video sensor technology across Peachtree Corners

September 11, 2020 by Liv

Peachtree Corners, which claims to be “America’s first smart city environment powered by real-world infrastructure and next-generation connectivity”, has agreed a strategic collaboration with the Bosch Building Technologies division to test, demonstrate and develop the future of video-as-a-sensor technology.

As Peachtree Corners looks to further strengthens its position as a testbed for autonomous mobility and smart city technology, connected city infrastructure and interaction with residents will enable Bosch to prove out its latest, most advanced edge computing capabilities via Curiosity Lab’s connected intersection.

Bosch’s technology will generate new insights into traffic planning for “the city street of the future.” With tele-operated e-scooters and fully autonomous vehicles intermingling with regular traffic, drivers and citizens living their everyday lives in Peachtree Corners, this collaboration “will unveil a host of data points that will help other cities across the globe better prepare for tomorrow”, according to city authorities.
