Universal Robots app store now has offers than 500 products

August 5, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Universal Robots, the Danish collaborative robot (cobot) company, has reached a new milestone, says it has now launched over 500 products through its “UR+ ecosystem”, which is like an “app store” for the cobot community built around UR robots, and is also sometimes referred to as a marketplace.

This marks a significant growth in the ecosystem since it started in 2016 with the ambition of making Universal Robots (UR) an open-source-like platform that would empower developers to create groundbreaking solutions.

Today, the UR+ ecosystem offers a wide range of components, kits, applications and solutions within both hardware and software designed to meet various customer needs. [Read more…] about Universal Robots app store now has offers than 500 products

On the road to decarbonization: The importance of the electric arc furnace route in steel production

August 5, 2024 by Mark Allinson

The steel industry is facing an epochal challenge: decarbonization. With growing pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the need to mitigate climate change, steel manufacturers must find alternative ways to make their production more environmentally friendly.

In this context, the electric arc furnace route is becoming increasingly important and promises a more sustainable future for the steel industry.

Traditionally, steel has mainly been produced by the blast furnace route, which is based on smelting iron ore with coke. However, this process is extremely energy-intensive and results in significant CO2 emissions. In response, the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) route has gained popularity in recent years.

AES launches first AI-enabled solar installation robot at Amazon power station

July 30, 2024 by Mark Allinson

The AES Corporation, an American utility and power generation company, has introduced “Maximo”, a groundbreaking, AI-powered robot that enhances solar installation speed, efficiency and safety.

Maximo is a first-of-its-kind robotic solution that works alongside construction teams to help meet rapidly growing renewable energy demand.

According to the IEA, by 2035, solar annual additions are expected to triple, and the workforce will need to nearly double.

Maximo can install solar panels in half the time and half the cost, working together with on-the-ground crews to accelerate renewable energy deployment, reducing time-to-power for customers.
