Honeywell Intelligrated is showcasing its connected solutions for automated palletizing equipment in end-of-line manufacturing environments at Pack Expo International in booth S-2560.

By leveraging data from machine-level sensors, the company provides real-time equipment monitoring, diagnostics and asset-level insights to boost reliability, throughput and performance.

Logistics firm launches route optimisation solutions to US and Canada

BlueBotics, a provider of navigation systems for robots, has teamed up with Forestay Capital in pursuit of new international growth surge.

BlueBotics says Forestay Capital, a tech fund that launched earlier this year, has acquired capital in the company, providing the “impetus for international expansion”.

Geek+ Robotics Picking System introduced at Empower in Hong Kong

Geek+ Robotics‘ Geek Picking System has been introduced at Empower in Hong Kong. As an e-commerce centre, Empower focuses on the fast-growing B2C market of small and medium-sized goods and also plays an important role in distributing parcels to Europe, Asia Pacific and Hong Kong.

The robot area of the Empower warehouse covers around several thousands square metres, using 65 Geek Picking Robots. The space utilisation of the warehouse has been maximised with high-rise inventory racks.

Currently Geek+ has several projects in operation in Hong Kong including E-commerce, retail, pharmaceutical, and mini-warehouse solutions which is based on the features of the Hong Kong logistics industry.

Intralogistics technology provider Montratec is planning to present cutting-edge technologies for process automation and efficiency increase at Fakuma, a trade fair for the plastics processing industry

“Welcome to our World” is the slogan of the German company Montratec, which is headquartered in Niedereschach.

The company will be presenting new product highlights of their intelligent automation and transport system Montrac on the international trade fair Fakuma (from 16 to 20 October 2018 in Friedrichshafen/Germany).

ZF developing autonomous ‘last-mile’ delivery

The logistics industry is overtaking the passenger car sector when it comes to the automation of driving functions. ZF is supporting this trend with innovative concepts and major investments.

For example, there are commercial vehicles that are intelligently connected thanks to production-ready ZF technology and equipped with autonomous driving functions capable of independently performing all logistics tasks or assisting package delivery drivers.

Autonomous delivery trucks will make package deliveries along the “last mile” more efficient – which will in the future help to deal with rising delivery volumes while reducing traffic in city centres.

DHL to build logistics centre for Austria and Eastern Europe

DHL has started construction of its new DHL Campus Vienna Airport. The state-of-the-art freight hub for Austria and Eastern Europe is in the municipality of Fischamend.

DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Freight are each building an advanced freight terminal and an office building with a total of around 12,000m² of warehouse space and around 3,500m² of office space on the property.

This will pool competencies for air and ocean freight as well as land and intermodal transport centrally at one location and create new, larger capacities for cargo.

Next Future Transportation launches autonomous vehicle

A company called Next Future Transportation has launched a driverless vehicle that it describes as an autonomous “Parcel Delivery Solution”. (See video below.) 

The vehicle could also be used as a minibus for transporting people.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has presented its Vision Urbanetic concept, a mobility concept said to go beyond existing ideas on autonomous vehicles.

Vision Urbanetic eliminates the separation between people moving and goods transport. It enables movement of people and goods to fulfil the needs of cities, businesses, city dwellers and travellers.

The concept reduces traffic flows, relieves inner-city infrastructures and contributes to an improved quality of urban life.
