Toyota invests additional $88 million in its US West Virginia plant

Toyota’s North American subsidiary, Toyota North America, has unveiled an additional investment of $88 million in its West Virginia plant to assemble the next generation of hybrid transaxles.

This brings the total investment in this plant to more than $2.8 billion.

Roche and Genentech to spend $700 million building new manufacturing facility

Genentech, a subsidiary of the Roche Group, has unveiled plans to invest more than $700 million in a new 700,000 square foot state-of-the-art drug manufacturing facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina.

The project will add more than 400 high-wage manufacturing jobs when the site is operational and more than 1,500 construction jobs during site development.

The new facility will ultimately support Roche and Genentech’s future portfolio of next-generation obesity medicines and this initial investment could expand in the future based on business needs and the US policy environment. Swisslog breaks ground to start construction of new global headquarters

The official groundbreaking for the new Swisslog global headquarters on Weihermattstrasse in Aarau, Switzerland has been completed.

By October 2026, around 320 employees will move into the state-of-the-art office building.

Chinese skyscraper-cleaning robot deal suspended amid tariffs, opening door for US rivals

A $1.6 million deal between a US client and Chinese robotics company Lingdu Intelligent Technology has been suspended following the Trump administration’s announcement of a 145 per cent tariff on Chinese-made electric vehicles and related high-tech imports, according to a repor on the South China Morning Post website.

The tariffs, part of a broader effort to protect domestic industries, have rattled niche sectors like skyscraper-cleaning robots where Chinese firms previously enjoyed a cost advantage.

Peak Technologies opens global headquarters in Littleton, Massachusetts

Peak Technologies, a provider of smart technologies, automated supply chain and mobile workforce solutions, hosted a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for the company’s global headquarters and Executive Briefing Center (EBC) in Littleton, Massachusetts.

Attendees at the grand opening and ribbon-cutting attended a luncheon and were able to tour the expanded 60,000 square foot headquarters, which includes innovative technology stations demonstrating advanced automation for the warehouse.

Tennant unveils new autonomous floor scrubber for large and complex facilities

Tennant Company has launched the X6 Rovr, a mid-sized autonomous floor scrubber designed to meet the cleaning demands of large commercial and light-industrial facilities.

Building on the compact X4 Rovr, the new X6 model offers expanded floor coverage – up to 75,000 square feet per cleaning cycle – with minimal operator assistance.

Advancements in Pedestrian Safety Technology

Walking is one of the healthiest activities for people of all ages and abilities, yet it can be one of the most dangerous forms of exercise in one’s community.

Pedestrian fatalities have been at an all-time high for the last four decades. The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) reported that 7,522 pedestrians were struck and killed by cars in 2022. In 2021, 104 pedestrians were killed in the state of Oklahoma alone.
