Autonomous electric truck startup Fernride raises $31 million in Series A funding

Fernride, a German autonomous, electric trucking company, has secured $31 million in Series A funding to accelerate the transition towards automated and sustainable logistics by creating the world’s leading human-machine collaboration technology.

Fernride’s unique approach has already convinced leading industry players such as Volkswagen, DB Schenker, BSH, and HHLA. The company has integrated automated trucks into the productive operations of these enterprises over the past 12 months.

Toyota and Daimler partner to advance autonomous truck technologies in Japan

Following the news that Daimler Truck and Toyota have entered into a partnership to combine their truck businesses in Japan, Varshini Shetty, automotive analyst at GlobalData, offers her view.

Shetty says: “To accelerate the development and manufacture of CASE (Connected / Autonomous & Automated / Shared / Electric) technology and hydrogen vehicles, many businesses are forming alliances with other automakers, start-ups, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Einride and UAE to introduce Middle East’s largest autonomous and electric fleet

Einride, a freight mobility company that provides digital, electric and autonomous technology, is launching a collaboration with the UAE Government to “fast track the region to sustainable shipping”.

The signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will look to deploy Einride’s ecosystem, including electric and autonomous vehicles, charging infrastructure and transforming technology that unlocks digital, electric and autonomous solutions at scale throughout the Falcon Rise grid.

Clevon Commercializes Autonomous Delivery in Northlake, Texas

Clevon, an autonomous delivery vehicle company founded in Estonia, has launched a commercial service in the US with PostNet Northlake.

Clevon manufactures state-of-the-art Autonomous Robot Carriers (ARCs) and uses them to service PostNet customers in Northlake, Texas.

Ouster expansion supply agreements with May Mobility for autonomous vehicles

Ouster, a provider of high-performance lidar sensors, and May Mobility, a developer of autonomous vehicle technology, are expanding their supply agreements to provide lidar sensors for May Mobility’s autonomous vehicle solutions.

These expansions include a binding commitment for a combined purchase of over one thousand Ouster OS1 and Alpha PrimeTM VLS-128 sensors through 2024 to meet demand for new AV deployments starting this year.

Mattamy Homes to add new routes to Beep autonomous shuttle network at 8,300-acre, master-planned residential development

Mattamy Homes, one of the largest privately owned homebuilders in North America, and Beep, an autonomous mobility solutions provider, say they are continuing their “commitment to smart and sustainable growth through advanced autonomous services connecting current and future key destinations” within Tradition, a master-planned community with more than 2,500 homes built on 8,300 acres of land on the Florida coast. 

As Mattamy Homes looks to add more than 1,000 new homes in 2023, Tradition’s autonomous shuttle network now connects a 55+ active adult community to the city’s main retail area with a new route.

The program, called TIM (Tradition in Motion), will now feature three routes connecting additional residential communities to the center of Tradition Square and surrounding shops and restaurants. May Mobility launches Arizona’s ‘first’ on-demand autonomous public transit service for 55+ community

May Mobility, a developer of autonomous vehicle technology, has launched what it claims is “the first on-demand public transit service using autonomous vehicles in Arizona”.

The service has been launched in the retirement community of Sun City. The service will be powered by Via, a specialist in transit technology.

The goal of the deployment is to use autonomous vehicles to expand access to safe, reliable and equitable on-demand transportation to Sun City, a community designed for adults 55 and older. May Mobility and Moovit partner to offer ‘complete autonomous mobility package’

May Mobility, a developer of autonomous vehicle technology, and Moovit, a mobility as a service (MaaS) solutions provider and creator of the popular urban mobility app, are partnering to expand the reach and efficiencies of shared autonomous vehicles and microtransit projects to bridge the gaps in public transit.

The companies will be poised to capture a portion of the nearly $2 trillion total addressable market that Frost & Sullivan projected for the mobility-as-a-service sector.

May Mobility’s autonomous vehicle fleets, powered by its unique Multi-Policy Decision (MPDM) technology, will work in concert with Moovit’s urban mobility app and on-demand reservation and routing software. Motional to add new features to its robotaxi service

Ride-hail passengers in Las Vegas can now take an autonomous ride in a Motional IONIQ 5 robotaxi at night

“Las Vegas is a city that really comes alive once the sun goes down, so extending our service to match rider demand is a critical step forward in the evolution of our vehicle,” says Akshay Jaising, Motional’s vice president of commercialization.

“We’re happy we can now spend more hours everyday introducing passengers to our technology, and helping them travel safely and comfortably where they need to go.”
