Safety Features of Self-Driving Cars

April 6, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Self-driving cars are one of the most revolutionary technological advancements of our time. As with any new technology, safety is paramount for these vehicles. To ensure the safety of their passengers and those around them, self-driving cars have various features designed to keep everyone safe.

With advances in technology, self-driving cars will be safer than human operated vehicles. In the US, 30,000 lives are lost each year in motor vehicle accidents, often due to fatigue, human error, and drunk driving.

Autonomous vehicles function without these behaviors, potentially saving thousands of lives. Here is a look at some of the advanced safety features of self-driving vehicles. [Read more…] about Safety Features of Self-Driving Cars

DeepRoute.ai launches $1,000 ‘map-free’ self-driving solution

March 21, 2023 by Mark Allinson

DeepRoute.ai, developer of the first production-ready autonomous driving solution, has launched its new Driver 3.0 solution, which the company describes as “the latest advance to achieving full autonomous driving and widespread commercialization”.

DeepRoute.ai is among the first to successfully complete HD map-free self-driving public road tests, thus breaking limitations created by geo-fencing. It is also among the first to win a production contract from automotive manufacturers to produce autonomous vehicles for consumer use.

DeepRoute.ai’s Driver 3.0 includes two versions of its self-driving solutions for automakers. D-PRO, with a hardware cost of $2,000, includes HD map-free operation and features like valet park assist (VPA) and point-to-point navigation on all roads without operational design domain (ODD) restrictions. What You Need to Know About Liability in Self-Driving Car Accidents

March 18, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Taking the world by storm, self-driving cars have been all the rage ever since they hit the market. Their advanced technology and superior design have also significantly contributed to their popularity.

However, as much as self-driving cars seem like something out of a science fiction movie, these dreamy vehicles are not perfect.

With car accidents being one of the most common personal injury claims, driverless vehicles now bring new complications to already challenging auto accident lawsuits. [Read more…] about What You Need to Know About Liability in Self-Driving Car Accidents

Be afraid. Be slightly afraid: Drivers feel ‘increasingly anxious’ about autonomous cars

March 7, 2023 by Mark Allinson

The results of AAA’s annual automated vehicle survey show that while there is still a high level of interest in partially-automated vehicle technology, attitudes toward fully self-driving vehicles have become increasingly apprehensive.

This year there was a major increase in drivers who are afraid, rising to 68 percent as compared to 55 percent in 2022. This is a 13 percent jump from last year’s survey and the biggest increase since 2020.

AAA believes automakers must be diligent in creating an environment that promotes the use of more advanced vehicle technologies in a secure, reliable, and educational manner. This includes the consistent naming of vehicle systems available to consumers today. [Read more…] about Be afraid. Be slightly afraid: Drivers feel ‘increasingly anxious’ about autonomous cars

Zoox says its robotaxi is ‘first in the world to operate on public roads’

February 16, 2023 by David Edwards

Autonomous mobility-as-a-service company, Zoox, has completed what it describes as “a key milestone” – deploying “the world’s first purpose-built robotaxi on open public roads with passengers”.

On February 11, 2023, Zoox conducted the first run of its employee shuttle service in Foster City, California, marking “the first time in history” a purpose-built autonomous robotaxi without traditional driving controls carried passengers on open public roads.

To reach this milestone, Zoox completed rigorous testing on private roads and received approval from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to operate its robotaxi on the state’s public roads. [Read more…] about Zoox says its robotaxi is ‘first in the world to operate on public roads’
