Fanuc, the world’s largest industrial robot maker, has introduced the new M-710iD/50M robot, representing the company’s first update to the popular M-710i robot series in 17 years.

Kuka says its new Kuka.MixedReality software visualizes the environment of robot cells live on smartphones to “support fast, safe and intuitive robot start-up”.

Alstef automates Bank of France’s new banknote printing facility

The Banque de France, or Bank of France, has launched a large-scale project to build a new plant in Vic-Le-Comte, France, which already houses a paper mill, creating a global banknote production hub at the cutting edge of technological innovation.

The new, highly secure building will house both printing and logistics activities. Process automation was entrusted to Alstef Group, who will supply a logistics system including a high-bay warehouse served by four stacker cranes within an automated “greenhouse”.

Flow management will be handled by a fleet of automated guided vehicles and/or autonomous mobile robots comprising 10 of Alstef’s “Turtle” AGV-AMRs Loadstar machines equipped with roller conveyors, as well as 10 GL 10.1 AGVs. AutoStore introduces ‘world’s first’ PickUpPort in collaboration with Element Logic

AutoStore, a specialist in automated storage and retrieval systems, has unveiled what it says is “the world’s first in-store solution equipped with an AutoStore PickUpPort”.

The system enables “fully automatic delivery of goods to customers”, and is now operational at thansen’s brand-new store in Copenhagen, Denmark.

TGW Logistics unveils robot capable of picking 1,000 items an hour

TGW Logistics has unveiled an industrial robotic arm for material handling that is capable of picking 1,000 items an hour.

The company says its experts have channeled 50 years of technical knowledge into the picking robot which “raises picking efficiency to a whole new level”.

RovoFlex stands out due to its high productivity, simple handling and maximum reliability, says TGW. The versatile robot therefore offers an answer to challenges such as the growing labour shortage or increasingly rapid changes in product ranges. GM-Honda begin commercial production at ‘industry’s first’ hydrogen fuel cell system manufacturing joint venture

In what is being described as “a pivotal moment” in the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell systems, GM and Honda have started production at their 50-50 joint venture production facility, FCSM.

FCSM is claimed to be “the first large-scale manufacturing joint venture to build fuel cells”.

Continental and Aurora finalize design of ‘world’s first’ scalable autonomous trucking system

Continental and Aurora Innovation announced they have achieved a key development milestone to commercialize autonomous trucks at scale.

The companies have finalized the design and architecture of the future fallback system and hardware of the Aurora Driver – an SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Level 4 autonomous driving system – that Continental plans to start production of in 2027.
