Nvidia unveils Jetson AGX Xavier industrial module

July 26, 2021 by Mai Tao Leave a Comment

Chipmaker Nvidia has unveiled the Jetson AGX Xavier industrial module. The company says the new ruggedized module is engineered to bring artificial intelligence to harsh, safety-critical environments.

From factories and farms to refineries and construction sites, the world is full of places that are hot, dirty, noisy, potentially dangerous — and critical to keeping industry humming.

These places all need inspection and maintenance alongside their everyday operations, but, given safety concerns and working conditions, it’s not always best to send in humans. [Read more…] about Nvidia unveils Jetson AGX Xavier industrial module

Automated driving developer TTTech Auto expands team

April 10, 2020 by Sam Francis Leave a Comment

TTTech Auto says it has grown its developer team for global customer projects.

After the acquisition of software company Silicon Gears in 2019, TTTech Auto expanded further on the Iberian Peninsula. The Madrid office opened in mid-February and will reinforce development capacities for global customer projects.

Spain is the country with the fourth-highest number of computer developers in the European Union, according to the State of European Tech 2019 report. Almost 40 per cent of the 323,000 developers are located in Madrid. [Read more…] about Automated driving developer TTTech Auto expands team

Nvidia launches new SoC and software-defined platform for autonomous cars and robots

January 29, 2020 by Mai Tao Leave a Comment

Nvidia has introduced a new, “highly advanced” software-defined platform for autonomous vehicles and robots.

The Nvidia Drive AGX Orin platform is powered by a new system-on-a-chip (SoC) called Orin, which consists of 17 billion transistors and is the result of four years of research and development investment.

The Orin SoC integrates Nvidia’s next-generation GPU architecture and Arm Hercules CPU cores, as well as new deep learning and computer vision accelerators that, in aggregate, deliver 200 trillion operations per second – nearly seven times the performance of Nvidia’s previous generation Xavier SoC. Nvidia Xavier achieves milestone for safe autonomous driving

December 13, 2018 by Anna

Safety experts at German agency TÜV SÜD have assessed the development process for the Nvidia Xavier system-on-a-chip (SoC), the world’s first processor for autonomous driving, and approved it as suitable for building a safe product.

With the completion of this step, Xavier is one approval step away from being the most complicated SoC to demonstrate compliance with international safety standards.

Nvidia approached the assessment of Xavier as a three-step process. In April, TÜV SÜD deemed the processor’s safety architecture suitable for use in safety applications.
