Vecna Robotics, a specialist in material handling automation solutions, has unveiled what it describes as “a major software release and hardware upgrades” to its AFL-class autonomous forklift.

The new capabilities expand the company’s reach within warehouse and factory floors by optimizing material transport between other machinery and equipment, with specific focus on low-lift workflows.

The update supports numerous above-ground workflows including: inbound staging to AS/RS induction; delivering materials to ergonomic lift stands for work-in-process flows; and loading and extracting from robotic palletizers and stretch wrappers. Smart Robotics launches new robotic parcel picker

Smart Robotics, a provider of pick and place automation as a service for warehouses and logistics processes, has launched its newly engineered Smart Parcel Picker.

The picking robot is designed to depalletize and unload an array of containers with parcels, varying in size, surface material and weight.

The company says its Smart Parcel Picker is able to do this at “business-case friendly throughput and performance” – replacing physically straining and repetitive work for warehouse employees at times that the industry is also experiencing growing labour shortages. Airbus to expand robotic usage at Rochefort logistics site

Airbus, the world’s largest airplane manufacturer, is expanding its usage of robotic solutions at its Rochefort, France logistics facility.

Airbus expects to be manufacturing a staggering 1,000 aircraft a year by 2025, which would significantly increase its requirements for parts picking in its warehouses.

ForwardX Robotics officially launches in the US with first project and trade show appearance

ForwardX Robotics, a Beijing-headquartered autonomous mobile robot and warehouse solutions provider, announced its first round of its Series C funding back in December 2021.

The round of funding brought the total to over $100 million since the company was founded in 2016. In the announcement, ForwardX stated that it would begin to ramp up its deployment capabilities and expand sales into the United States market.

DHL opens new ‘highly automated’ fulfillment center for flatpack furniture giant IKEA

DHL Supply Chain, Deutsche Post DHL Group’s contract logistics specialist, is opening a new, “highly automated” fulfillment center in Bergkamen, Germany, for its customer, the Swedish flatpack furniture giant IKEA.

The new state-of-the-art DHL facility has been commissioned to help the home furnishings group handle its fast-growing B2C online business in Germany, which grew significantly during the pandemic and required IKEA to rapidly expand its B2C fulfillment capabilities.
