Heavy-duty industrial robots: The big dragons of big industry

November 26, 2025 by David Edwards

Walk into a modern automotive plant, a railcar factory, or a metal fabrication shop, and you will almost always find one thing: very large, very powerful robots doing the heavy lifting.

These machines do not resemble the compact cobots that dominate marketing campaigns, nor the humanoid prototypes that tend to draw public attention.

Instead, they are the unseen giants of industrial automation – rigid, anchored, high-payload robots designed to move, weld, grind, assemble and manipulate components that weigh hundreds of kilograms, sometimes more than a tonne. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol partners with Neura Robotics to test new autonomous ground-operations robot

November 25, 2025 by David Edwards

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is testing a new autonomous system designed to automate one of the most physically demanding and time-critical ground-handling tasks: connecting aircraft to ground power units (GPUs).

The technology, known as ARC (Autonomous Robot for GPU Connection), has been developed in collaboration with KLM and Neura Robotics and was recently demonstrated live at the airport.

The project aims to address growing operational pressures at airports, where staff shortages and physically intensive work have made GPU connection a persistent bottleneck. [Read more…] about Amsterdam Airport Schiphol partners with Neura Robotics to test new autonomous ground-operations robot

Waabi achieves ‘major milestone’ in autonomous truck technology

November 25, 2025 by David Edwards

Waabi says it has achieved a major technical and commercial breakthrough in autonomous trucking, unveiling surface-street driving capabilities that allow its self-driving trucks to complete entire freight journeys without human intervention.

The company claims it has now accomplished “complete autonomous driving capabilities across both highways and general surface streets”, a milestone it achieved in the first quarter of 2025.

According to Waabi, this unlocks what it describes as the first viable direct-to-customer operating model in the autonomous freight sector. [Read more…] about Waabi achieves ‘major milestone’ in autonomous truck technology

Why is My IP Banned from My Own Website? (And How to Fix It)

November 25, 2025 by David Edwards

Getting locked out of your own website is frustrating – especially when you haven’t changed anything in your firewall, CMS, or hosting settings. Yet IP bans happen far more often than most site owners expect.

Security systems are designed to protect websites automatically, and sometimes they misinterpret normal activity as suspicious.

That’s why many professionals turn to reliable IPv4 proxies as part of their troubleshooting process, using them to create a stable and predictable access environment. With the right approach, you can quickly identify the cause of a ban and prevent it from happening again. [Read more…] about Why is My IP Banned from My Own Website? (And How to Fix It)

5 Ways Voice AI Automates 24/7 Internal Communications on the Manufacturing Floor

November 25, 2025 by David Edwards

Manufacturing floors never sleep. Machines keep running, shifts rotate, and information has to keep moving. Yet internal communication often depends on fragile systems, such as walkie-talkies, paper logs, whiteboards, and supervisors overloaded with responsibility.

The result is familiar to most plant managers. Delays. Confusion. Missed messages. Costly mistakes. In fact, poor communication is an invisible budget drain, which costs large companies an average of $62.4 million per year and mid-sized firms about $420,000 per 1,000 employees.

Voice AI is silently revolutionizing the way factories talk to themselves. Instead of fragmented tools, manufacturers are starting to apply always-on voice systems that listen, respond, and route information in real time. Interview with Fictiv founder Dave Evans: ‘Unparalleled catalog of standard mechanical components’

November 25, 2025 by David Edwards

As labour shortages, supply-chain volatility, and reshoring pressures continue to reshape American manufacturing, companies are increasingly turning to flexible automation and digital platforms to stay competitive.

Few firms sit at the centre of that transformation quite like Fictiv, the global manufacturing platform co-founded by Dave Evans, who now serves as its CEO.

Fictiv describes itself as a “digital thread” for custom manufacturing – an end-to-end platform that connects engineers with a distributed global network of manufacturing partners across the US, Mexico, India, and China.
