The grand illusion: Are big profits in the industrial robotic arms market just pure fantasy now?

October 13, 2025 by Sam Francis

A recent Dürr financial statement sent a clear signal to the robotics world: even well-established players are not immune to the strain of slowing demand.

Dürr cut its order-intake target for 2025 (for continued operations) from its previous band of €4,300 to €4,700 million down to €3,800 to €4,100 million, citing weaker project demand.

Meanwhile, in its restructuring plan, the company announced it would eliminate roughly 500 administrative positions by end-2026, and absorb €40-50 million of restructuring provisions in H2 2025 to enable annual savings of about €50 million from 2027 onward. Deep Robotics launches ‘all-weather’ humanoid robot

October 10, 2025 by Mai Tao

Deep Robotics has unveiled what it claims is the world’s first industrial-grade humanoid robot designed for all-weather outdoor use.

The new model, DR02, was introduced on October 9 and is the company’s second-generation humanoid. It is equipped with an IP66 protection rating, making the entire machine resistant to dust and water.

The robot is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20 deg C to 55 deg C, allowing it to work in environments such as rain, humidity, cold storage, and high-temperature workshops. [Read more…] about Deep Robotics launches ‘all-weather’ humanoid robot

HydroGraph awarded new US patent for ‘fractal graphene’-based actuator technology

October 10, 2025 by Mai Tao

HydroGraph Clean Power, a producer of ultra-pure graphene, has been granted a US patent for a novel actuator technology that uses electrically conductive porous carbon materials, including HydroGraph’s proprietary “Fractal Graphene”, to generate controlled mechanical force.

This marks the first US patent granted for an invention developed in HydroGraph’s laboratories, part of the Company’s strategy to expand its intellectual property portfolio beyond its foundational graphene synthesis patents licensed from Kansas State University.

Additionally, HydroGraph now has 11 additional patent applications pending covering various material innovations and applications. [Read more…] about HydroGraph awarded new US patent for ‘fractal graphene’-based actuator technology

Automation is Changing How Cleanrooms Stay Contamination-Free

October 10, 2025 by Mai Tao

Tight protocols keep controlled rooms free of dust and residue. Every surface, instrument, and step inside these spaces supports quality and stability.

As more industries bring in smart machines, upkeep methods are shifting toward approaches that cut slip-ups while backing the reliability of familiar cleaning gear.

New tech now works alongside careful use of swabs and other supplies. Rather than replacing them, programmable systems help these items work with better steadiness. [Read more…] about Automation is Changing How Cleanrooms Stay Contamination-Free

Mitsubishi develops underwater robot for inspecting Japanese nuclear plants

October 10, 2025 by Mai Tao

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has developed a specialised underwater navigation robot to perform non-destructive inspections of nuclear reactor vessels in high-radiation environments, according to information released by the Japan Society of Maintenology. (See videos below.)

The unit, known as the A-UT Machine, is designed to navigate reactor vessels underwater and carry out weld-line inspections using a manipulator arm.

“The unit navigates underwater and uses a manipulator to perform non-destructive inspections of the weld lines of a nuclear reactor vessel,” Mitsubishi developers said. [Read more…] about Mitsubishi develops underwater robot for inspecting Japanese nuclear plants

Australian Droid + Robot unveils docking station to extend Explora XL robot autonomy for mining applications

October 10, 2025 by Mai Tao

Australian Droid + Robot (ADR) has introduced a new Docking Station designed to extend the autonomy of its Explora XL robot, enabling underground mines to capture data without halting production or sending workers into hazardous environments.

The company says the ruggedised Docking Station allows robots to remain permanently underground, providing automated charging, integrated sensor cleaning, and secure data transfer.

In a statement, the company says: “For decades, essential underground tasks like surveying, inspection and gas sensing have required costly production shutdowns and exposed personnel to hazardous environments. Walmart reportedly selling Unitree humanoid robots on its website: Retail reality or PR stunt?

October 10, 2025 by Mai Tao

A photograph (main image) has been circulating online this week showing a Walmart product listing for the Unitree G1 humanoid robot, priced at $21,600.

TechNode first reported the story in English, after having apparently discovered it on IThome. Technode noted that Walmart’s website briefly carried a page offering the robot for sale with free shipping and a six-unit limit per customer.

But we checked that Walmart page and the listing can no longer be found. Walmart’s website now returns the message “We couldn’t find this page” when the supposed link is accessed.

However, if you look at the URL for the page, it does mention the “Unitree G1 Basic” (the official company image which we have displayed for you below). This lends credibility to the story – what else could have been on that Walmart page and be described as a “Unitree G1 Basic”?
