Siemens completes acquisition of ebm-papst’s industrial drive technology business

Europe’s largest engineering company Siemens has closed its acquisition of ebm-papst‘s industrial drive technology business. In the future, it will be marketed using the name “Mechatronic Systems” at Siemens.

The business has about 650 employees and its portfolio includes intelligent, integrated mechatronic systems in the extra-low voltage protection range, innovative driving systems used in free-moving, driverless transport systems, and other applications.

Bosch plans to invest €2.5 billion into AI agent technology over the next two years

Bosch, one of the world’s largest industrial conglomerates, says it “continues to set the pace” in the application and development of artificial intelligence (AI): by the end of 2027, the technology company will invest more than €2.5 billion in this field.

AI is an innovation booster and growth driver for Bosch products and services. It makes automated driving safer, reliably checks quality in manufacturing, and makes everyday life easier for consumers at work, in their free time, and at home.

Borouge to test AI-powered autonomous petrochemicals operations in UAE

Borouge, a petrochemicals company that provides polyolefins solutions, is collaborating with Honeywell to conduct a proof of concept for AI-powered autonomous operations, which has the potential to “revolutionise” Borouge’s UAE plant operations.

The collaboration between Borouge and Honeywell is set to deliver the petrochemical industry’s first AI-driven control room designed for full-scale, real-time operation, establishing a new standard for the future of AI in petrochemicals.

Intrinsic unveils new AI-powered industrial automation solutions at Automatica 2025

Intrinsic – a business unit of Alphabet, parent company of Google – is showcasing at Automatica 2025 several new AI-enabled robotic systems and platform enhancements aimed at transforming how automation providers and manufacturers build, deploy, and scale intelligent solutions.

The company has announced support for end-to-end solution development for CNC machine tending and optical inspection use cases on its Intrinsic platform. These new capabilities combine Intrinsic Flowstate, AI-powered perception, motion planning, and IntrinsicOS to streamline complex industrial automation tasks.

Among the highlights at the trade show are demonstrations from three new customers – Newston Automated Solutions, Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, and MartinSystems – each presenting their first solutions built with Intrinsic. Chinese government to invest $140 billion in robotics and high-tech industries

China’s National Development and Reform Commission plans to set up a state-backed venture capital fund focused on robotics, AI and cutting-edge innovation.

Comau to unveil six new collaborative robots at Automatica

Comau is highlighting the strong synergies between human ingenuity and technological excellence at Automatica 2025 with the launch of powerful new solutions designed to accelerate ease of use, increase quality and ensure sustainable productivity for companies of all sizes and industries.

Delta Electronics to showcase new collaborative robots at Automatica

Delta Electronics, a Taiwanese company specializing in power management and smart green solutions, says it is “redefining intelligent manufacturing for small and medium-sized enterprises” (SMEs) at automatica 2025 with the debut of two next-generation D-Bot cobot solutions.

The D-Bot MAR, developed and assembled in Germany, handles payloads of up to 500 kg with a lift height of 55 mm, ideal for European pallets and materials handling applications. The Dynamic D-Bot 2-in-1 boasts a detachable cobot arm to execute both autonomous pallet transport and independent cobot operations.

Universal Robots launches new online simulation tool

Universal Robots (UR), the world’s largest collaborative robot (cobot) company and a part of Teradyne Robotics, has launched UR Studio, which it describes as “a powerful online simulation tool built on PolyScope X, UR’s most advanced, open and AI-ready software platform”.

UR Studio – showcased at the UR booth at the automatica trade fair in Munich this week – enables customers, partners and integrators to build 1:1 online simulations of their work cell and simulate every key aspect of their setup.

With UR Studio, users can test robot movements, simulate reach, speed and workflow, and calculate cycle time, making it the simplest way to configure an optimised cell, maximising return on investment before deployment even starts.
