Lockdowns around the world caused by the coronavirus pandemic have provided a boost to the consumer robotics market, according to ABI Research.

The consumer robotic market pushed through the pandemic’s disruption to deliver continued growth in 2020 as consumers spent more time at home and invested in robotic offerings that made life simpler.

The global food and beverage robotic system integration market for pick and place application was estimated at $17.5 million in 2017 and is projected to reach $40.1 million by 2025, according to a new market study published by Coherent Market Insights.

The North America market is projected to reach $11.12 million by 2025 with a compound annual growth rate of 11.02 percent. Increasing demand for robotics for application in various industries has become one of the key factors for growth of this market.

According to Robotic Industries Association, in 2015, a total of 31,464 robots valued at $1.8 billion were ordered by North American companies of different industries, an increase of 14 percent in units and 11 percent in revenue over previous year. RE2 Robotics achieves 50 percent hiring growth despite pandemic

RE2 Robotics, or “Resquared Robotics”, a developer of intelligent mobile manipulation systems, announced today that the Company has already reached its 2020 hiring goal of increasing its staff by 50 percent.

In particular, 83 percent of the new hires were engineers from a variety of disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.

In addition, the Company has added to its operations team with the hiring of a head of talent, director of IT, and accountant, and has augmented its production team with the addition of a CNC machinist and lab assistant. Fanuc plans to triple its production of industrial robots

Fanuc, the world’s largest manufacturer of industrial robots, with almost 500,000 units in operation at customer locations around the world, is planning to “triple current monthly production” at its main factory in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. 

This is according to a report by Nikkei Asian Review which says Fanuc is particularly concentrating on its CRX line of collaborative robots.
