Siemens Shanghai facility achieves ‘300 percent’ increased storage with Geek Plus robotic system

Geek Plus, arguably one of the world’s largest warehouse automation companies, says its robotic system has helped Siemens’ Shanghai facility achieve a storage capacity increase of 300 percent, improved picking efficiency of 150 percent, and increased accuracy to 99.99 percent.

Geek+ has been collaborating with Shanghai Siemens Switchgear for five years. In that time, the company says it has engaged in “continuous innovation”.

Now it says it has successfully built “the world’s first robot-driven intelligent warehouse in the discrete-manufacturing field that covers the full process from receiving and shelving to storage, picking and distribution”. Volvo Group and Daimler Truck, two of the leaders in the commercial vehicle industry, announce the launch of Coretura AB, their joint venture aimed at “transforming the commercial vehicle industry through a new software-defined vehicle platform and establishing a new industry standard”.

Volkswagen agrees digital transformation roadmap

Volkswagen will be investing up to €4 billion in digitisation projects up until 2023 – mainly in administration but also in production. At least 2,000 new jobs related to digitisation are to be created.

This has been agreed by the Board of Management and the General Works Council in their “digital transformation roadmap”.

Agile working methods, improved processes and digitisation are to reduce the burden on employees and speed up processes. Tasks that used to be performed manually are to be simplified through improved IT.
