UK’s Universities and Colleges Admission Service renews contract with Infosys to drive automation

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) has renewed its contract with Infosys for another three years in an attempt to increase automation and the efficiency of its services for students.

According to Sander Kristel, UCAS’s chief operations officer, the deal marks a very real move forward in the partnership between the two organizations that has existed since 2015.

“UCAS is seeing an increase in student demand across all areas. A demographic uplift and a growing demand from mature students and overseas applicants means we are anticipating a million undergraduate applicants by 2025. Seegrid introduces subscription model for acquiring its robots

Seegrid, a provider of autonomous mobile robots for material handling, has introduced a “Robots as a Service” (RaaS) subscription model.

The additional purchasing model provides customers with more alternatives to facilitate access to the latest Seegrid Palion AMR fleet and enterprise software solutions.

Pitney Bowes to install Ambi Robotics systems in US to support global ecommerce network

Pitney Bowes, a provider of ecommerce solutions, has selected automated systems from Ambi Robotics.

The company has decided to install AmbiSort robots in ecommerce hubs within the US over the next five years.

The AmbiSort AI-powered systems will help Pitney Bowes speed parcel sortation to last-mile delivery providers on behalf of its ecommerce clients, while improving operational efficiency, accuracy and worker safety as parcel volumes continue to surge. Ahold Delhaize expands micro-fulfillment with Swisslog and AutoStore

Ahold Delhaize is expanding its micro-fulfillment capabilities as part of its omnichannel supply chain using warehouse automation technology from Swisslog and AutoStore.

Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of Netherlands-based Ahold Delhaize, is the parent company for Ahold Delhaize’s US companies, including its local brands, which comprise:

  • Food Lion;
  • Giant Food;
  • The Giant Company;
  • Hannaford and Stop & Shop;
  • Retail Business Services, a US support services company providing services to the brands; and
  • Peapod Digital Labs, its digital, e-commerce and commercial engine.

Uber completes acquisition of delivery robot startup Postmates

Uber Technologies has completed the acquisition of delivery robot startup Postmates in an all-stock transaction.

The two companies have begun the process of integrating US operations.
