Starship provides delivery robots to new US colleges and adds new technology

Starship Technologies, the world’s leading provider of autonomous delivery services, is expanding its service to new universities, adding to its existing 50 US campuses.

Starship Technologies now offering autonomous robot delivery on 50 US college campuses

Starship Technologies, which claims to be the world’s leading provider of autonomous delivery services, says it is now offering its service to 50 college campuses across the US.

This includes several new schools launching services, including Wichita State University, Boise State University and The University of New Orleans.

Starship’s fleet of more than 2,000 robots provides deliveries in half of the US states as well as locations around the globe and more than 1.1 million students in the US have access to the service. Florida university opens Blendid robotic smoothie kiosk

Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) has opened an autonomous robotic smoothie kiosk from Blendid, a robotic food service solutions company.

Antoinette Biffar, FGCU, says: “There is no denying the current robotics evolution in the food service industry, and we are thrilled to work with Blendid to give FGCU students access to these innovative, proven food service solutions.

“Today’s college students crave more meal service offerings, especially when it comes to fresh, nutritious options they can order easily from their phone and grab on-the-go. Starship Technologies launches robot delivery service at Missouri university

Starship Technologies, the world’s leading provider of autonomous delivery services, rolled out its robot food delivery service today on the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) campus.

Starship’s fleet of 16 autonomous, on-demand robots will deliver from all campus eateries. The school’s students and faculty can now use the Starship app (iOS and Android) to order food and drinks from local retailers to be delivered anywhere on campus, within minutes. The service works in conjunction with the student meal plan.

Olivia Romisch, student, says: “I’m really excited for these robots! Starship and Grubhub partner to bring robot delivery services to college campuses

Starship Technologies, a provider of autonomous delivery robots, and Grubhub, a food ordering and delivery marketplace, are partnering to provide robot delivery services on college campuses across the United States.

This delivery is currently available at the University of Kentucky, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Wayne State University, Southern Methodist University and Fairfield University, and will be available at multiple other college campuses later this year.

More than 170,000 students will have access to robot deliveries across these campuses, joining the list of over 25 schools across the United States where Starship’s robots provide deliveries with its global fleet of over 2,000 robots. Grubhub and Cartken partner to bring robot delivery to college campuses

Grubhub, an online and mobile food-ordering and delivery platform on college campuses, and Cartken, a technology startup that specializes in self-driving, AI-powered robotics and delivery operations, have formed a partnership to bring robot delivery to college campuses.

This delivery was piloted at Ohio State University this spring, and a full roll out is expected when students return to campus this fall.

Grubhub partners with more than 250 college campuses across the United States to give students the ability to integrate meal plans directly into their Grubhub account and access restaurants both on- and off-campus for delivery and pickup. Kiwibot completes new funding and closes ‘biggest expansion deal’ with Sodexo

Kiwibot, the Colombian robotic sidewalk delivery startup with a new headquarters in Miami, has agreed a “multimillion-dollar contract expansion” with Sodexo, a food services and facilities management company.

This contract will enable Kiwibot to expand its robotic fleet, delivering more than 1,200 robots across 50 US college campuses, with Sodexo, by the end of 2022.

Jamba and Blendid expand pilot launch of robotic smoothie kiosks to more locations

Health food and smoothie specialist Jamba and robotics company Blendid have added two new “Jamba by Blendid” autonomous robotic kiosk locations.

The new locations at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia and Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia mark the first Jamba by Blendid openings on college campuses, expanding beyond the current pilot locations in a shopping mall and big box retailer.

The company calls this a “significant step” as Jamba and Blendid continue to explore opportunities to open more Jamba by Blendid kiosks in a variety of non-traditional venues, including gyms, hospitals, airports, and more. Starship Technologies agrees €50 million funding from European Investment Bank

Starship Technologies, a maker of autonomous delivery robots, has agreed on a €50 million quasi-equity facility agreement with the European Investment Bank.

The lending arm of the European Union and one of the largest providers of climate finance, the EIB supports projects that promote the priorities and objectives of the EU.

This financing, which is supported by the European Fund for Strategic Investments, has been facilitated via a venture loan, and will be used for research and development, including the building of thousands more robots at Starship’s engineering and innovation facility in Tallinn.
