Tackling the lack of specialists with innovative robotics solutions

April 16, 2023 by David Edwards

Boring, strenuous, and exhausting are things of the past. The work environment of tomorrow looks different: exciting, simple, and easy. Cobots, AGVs (Autonomous Guided Vehicles), and AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) put variety into daily work routines.

Cooperation with the robot transforms previously tedious, strenuous tasks into popular activities that are easy to perform. Numerous exhibitors at automatica, held in Munich from June 27 to 30, 2023, will present examples of such transformations.

While such work facilitation is great, the pivotal question is: To what extent can automation and robotics compensate the lack of specialists? An ever-increasing gap emerges as the baby boomers retire from the workforce. [Read more…] about Tackling the lack of specialists with innovative robotics solutions

HR Tech Entrepreneur Gergo Vari on AI, Automation, and the Future of Jobs

April 13, 2023 by Mark Allinson

By Gergo Vari, founder and CEO of Lensa

Automation has affected all sectors of activity. And recruitment is no exception.

In today’s labor market, where attracting and keeping top talent is more challenging than ever before, companies that implement AI and automation into their recruitment process stand to gain a significant edge over their competitors.

I founded the AI-powered online jobs portal Lensa in 2016 with the conviction that technology such as AI, machine learning, and automation could be used to help match job seekers and companies. And the results have surpassed even our (admittedly) lofty expectations. [Read more…] about HR Tech Entrepreneur Gergo Vari on AI, Automation, and the Future of Jobs

Will a robot take my job? Notre Dame researcher says this view is overly pessimistic

March 31, 2023 by Mark Allinson

With the impact of industrial robots on the US labor markets in the past two decades, and an ever-increasing presence of machine-driven technology (such as artificial intelligence and ChatGPT), many employees have feared that one day robots will take their jobs.

Not necessarily so, according to research recently published by Yong Suk Lee, an assistant professor in the University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs.

He and his co-author, Auburn University’s John Chung, found that industrial robots, particularly those used within the automotive industry, complemented human workers rather than replaced them – some even working collaboratively, side-by-side.
