E-commerce in the USA: Fast-growing demand for warehouse robots

The phrase “e-commerce in the USA” might immediately bring to mind the giant of the sector, Amazon, which is said to have received fully 40 percent of all online shopping orders over the Christmas period in the country.

It’s difficult to imagine how many orders and how much money that really is, but it’s not difficult to imagine Amazon being the winner – the company has been the biggest e-commerce platform in the US for many years.

NextShift Robotics to show ‘no-following or waiting’ robots at ProMat

NextShift Robotics, a provider of autonomous mobile robot solutions for automated order fulfilment and warehouse materials management, will be demonstrating its No Following / No Waiting robotic workflow solution at ProMat 2019.

NextShift recently released a video highlighting some of the innovations they will be demonstrating at Promat 2019, to be held April 8-11, 2019 in Chicago, USA.

The company will demonstrate what it claims is a fundamentally different autonomous mobile robot workflow for material handling. The NextShift solution is based on robots that can load and unload containers autonomously.

German Bionic to present its first robot exoskeleton for industrial IoT

Robotics specialist German Bionic is to present the first connected robot exoskeleton for use with the industrial internet of things, at the Hannover Messe industrial technology show.

The German Bionic IO cloud platform connects the third generation of the Cray X exoskeleton with all common enterprise solutions and networked manufacturing systems, enabling complete integration into “smart factory” and Industry 4.0 environments.

Robotics challenge: ExxonMobil extends deadline for $60,000 competition

ExxonMobil is offering $60,000 in a robotics challenge designed to find new innovations in the field of energy. 

The company has extended its deadline for submissions to May 13th, 2019.

The aim of the challenge is to develop solutions for “pain points and technology gaps” in the natural resources industry.

The Robotics Reverse Pitch Challenge, organized by BBL Ventures, is inviting submissions from local and international businesses as well as educational institutions.

Prospective entrepreneurs are also invited to enter the competition.

BMW creates 2,000 jobs as it starts production of new autonomous electric car

BMW’s Dingolfing plant director announces the expansion of e-drive production, as well as preparations for series production of the fully electric and “highly automated” BMW iNext

The mobility of tomorrow is being turned into reality to a large extent in BMW’s Dingolfing production plant, in Lower Bavaria, southern Germany.

Ilka Horstmeier, the new director of the plant, is convinced of this. “We want to, and will, emerge as a winner in our industry’s technological transformation,” she says. “And we will continue to pioneer future topics such as e-mobility and autonomous driving.”

Ottobock to launch ‘smallest exoskeleton in the world’ at Hannover Messe

Ottobock is planning to present a range of innovative new exoskeletons for ergonomic workplaces during the Hannover Messe trade show

Ottobock will be presenting its industrial exoskeletons for the first time at the Hannover Messe trade show.

Visitors to booth G18/1 in hall 17 will have the opportunity to personally test the passive exoskeletons in the Paexo product family and experience the relief they provide.

Starship and Sodexo send more delivery robots to university

Starship Technologies and Sodexo have launched a robot food delivery service at Northern Arizona University in partnership with several restaurants

It’s something your mom always told you – eat your breakfast – and now college students are starting to do just that, thanks to Starship robots and Sodexo.

Research has shown that up to 88 percent of college students skip breakfast, primarily because of lack of time, but that number is starting to turn around when delivery robots arrive on campus.

Geek Plus Robotics to partner with leading Chinese automaker and supply its driverless forklift

Geek Plus Robotics is to partner with automaker FAW, and supply its new autonomous forklift to the company.

FAW is one of the “Big Four” automakers in China, along with SAIC Motor, Dongfeng, and Chang’an.
