RoboCup 2025 brings the world’s top robot soccer teams to Brazil

Regarded by some as “the world’s largest robotics and artificial intelligence competition”, RoboCup returns to Brazil this month, with more than 250 teams from 37 countries preparing to compete in a high-stakes showdown of autonomous machines.

Set to take place in Salvador, Brazil from July 17 to 21, RoboCup 2025 will feature cutting-edge robots battling it out in fully autonomous soccer matches, alongside competitions in rescue, home service, and industrial robotics.

Founded in 1997, RoboCup has long served as a proving ground for AI and robotics researchers, with its most ambitious goal still decades in the making: to develop humanoid robots capable of defeating the human FIFA World Cup champions by 2050 in a fair match. Kawasaki develops nurse assistant robot with Foxconn

Kawasaki Heavy Industries has co-developed nurse assistant robot “Nurabot” through a strategic partnership with Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics manufacturing services company from Taiwan. 

Aiming for market launch in FY2026, they have been conducting verification experiments since April 2025 at the Taichung Veterans General Hospital, a national hospital in Taiwan.

Galbot raises $151 million to scale embodied AI humanoid robots, partners with Bosch investment arm

Chinese robotics startup Galaxy General Robot Co. – also known as Galbot – has raised $151 million in a funding round led by battery giant CATL and Puquan Capital, bringing its total investment to more than $330 million since its founding in 2023.

The company also announced a strategic joint venture with Boyuan Capital, the investment arm of Bosch Group, to accelerate the global commercialization of embodied AI robots.

Founded by Professor He Wang of Peking University – a Stanford-trained scientist – Galbot specializes in embodied artificial intelligence, which enables robots to perceive and interact with the physical world in a more human-like manner. The company’s technology has applications in retail, automotive, and industrial sectors. Ocean Infinity launches ‘NeedleFish’ uncrewed surface vessel in Kuwait

Advanced technology and marine robotics company Ocean Infinity has successfully launched its innovative NeedleFish Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) at an official event with the Kuwaiti Coast Guard (KCG).

Initiated as part of Kuwait’s new national integrated maritime surveillance system being delivered by SRT Marine Systems, the NeedleFish by Ocean Infinity is a custom-equipped unmanned vessel.

Civ Robotics secures $7.5 million to power robot-led surveying

Civ Robotics, a construction robotics company, has closed its $7.5 million Series A funding round, led by AlleyCorp with investments from Bobcat Company, ff Venture Capital, and previous seed investors.

This brings the total funding to date to $12.5 million. This new investment will support further development of its construction robots and expansion into new global markets, with an emphasis on renewable energy and solar.
