ABB invests in autonomous mobile robot startup Sevensense

ABB is investing in, and entering into a strategic partnership with, Swiss-based start-up Sevensense, founded in 2018 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich.

ABB says the partnership will enhance its new autonomous mobile robotics offering with artificial intelligence and 3D vision mapping technology.

Benetton set to invest an automation solution at its facilities in Italy

The leading fashion chain, Benetton is about to invest in a new automation solution to add efficiency and flexibility to the group’s operations at its logistics facilities in Villorba, Italy.

The solution comes from Dematic and features an AutoStore system that will improve the company’s e-commerce sales by optimizing its storage facilities and processing of orders.

According to the tech portal cercoTECH, the revamp will be entirely managed by Dematic software with the AutoStore system responsible for thousands of storage units and 53 mobile robots that will pick up orders from the bins. Kmart Australia, which owns more than 300 stores in Australia and New Zealand, selected Tompkins Robotics’ tSort automation solution to optimize its Auckland fulfillment operations.

Implemented in less than five months, Tompkins Robotics’ tSort System immediately improved the scalability of Kmart’s distributed logistics network, requiring a lower investment and utilizing 60 percent less operational space. GreyOrange expands robotics reach to new European markets

GreyOrange, a warehouse robotics and automation company, has expanded its GreyMatter operating system and Ranger MoveSmart robots in Active Ants’ e-fulfilment centre in Willebroek, Belgium.

GreyOrange says its solution to modern fulfilment has already been providing higher value and higher levels of efficiency to the Active Ants fulfilment centre in The Netherlands and has since scaled its offering to the Belgian market in preparation for surges in eCommerce demand over the end of year holiday period.

Warehouse robotics startup Hai Robotics raises $200 million in funding

Hai Robotics, a Chinese warehouse robotics startup pioneering in autonomous case-handling robotics system, has secured two new continuous rounds of financing, generating more than $200 million in total.

The new money is to be invested in boosting Hai’s robot fleet with technological upgrades, expanding its global operation networks, optimizing its supply chain management and corporate structure as well as talent.
