bosch park assist

People buying new cars today in Germany and Europe are placing more and more value on having electronic assistants on board, says Bosch, based on analysis carried out on new registration statistics for 2016.

“There is a clear trend: it will soon be just as natural to have cars fitted with driver assistance systems as it is with a radio and ESP,” says Bosch board of management member Dr Dirk Hoheisel.

Parking and lane assist systems, as well as emergency braking systems are becoming increasingly popular, with 62 percent of new passenger cars registered in Germany in 2016 being equipped with some kind of parking assistance system – ranging from parking beepers to automatic parking assistants.

driverless car concept

By Kate Riley, TechRogers.com

Though many of us might have heard about self-driving cars, the idea has mostly been restricted to daydreams and books and some movies.

However, all this is supposed to break into reality within the next few years, possibly months.

The entire world is waiting with bated breath as Google and others to put the finishing touches on their much talked about self-driving cars.

It certainly is a technological marvel and there are quite a few interesting technologies involved.

For example, self-driving cars have some of the best GPRS and navigation systems. This helps a lot in navigating the vehicles through tough and difficult terrain without running the risk of accidents and other mishaps.

They also come with some of the most advanced anti-collision devices which ensures that even when moving through heavy traffic, the vehicles would be in a position to come to a grinding halt or give way to other vehicles if it is travelling at a specified speed.

More of the technologies are listed below in the infographic.

Swiss students through to finals of Elon Musk’s Hyperloop competition

March 8, 2018 by Anna

ETH Zurich students are through to the next round of US entrepreneur Elon Musk’s SpaceX Hyperloop competition in Summer 2018 with their ‘Swissloop’ concept, against thousands of other teams.

Hyperloop is about moving pods through a vacuumed-sealed tube, transferring the tubular mail idea to passenger transport as a precursor to fast travel, and the competition is to design the best system.

The Hyperloop concept is based on vacuum technology: the vacuum tunnel massively reduces air resistance and thus enables smooth driving at speeds of up to 1,000 kilometers per hour.

Laid-back Californians totally lose it and go on the rampage, attacking driverless vehicles everywhere, apparently

March 7, 2018 by David Edwards

california

Californians are famous for being laid back, going surfing, and… attacking robots?

In what is probably one of the weirdest stories to emerge so far this year, residents of California have reportedly been attacking driverless cars and other autonomous wheeled vehicles.

And no one really knows why.

They’ve been shouting out them, too, apparently.  [Read more…] about Laid-back Californians totally lose it and go on the rampage, attacking driverless vehicles everywhere, apparently
