Brick Making Machines: Guide for Efficient and Scalable Production

April 14, 2026 by Sam Francis

Most people who get into brick production already know the basics, but it’s the details that determine whether your operation runs smoothly or constantly falls behind.

Getting the right brick making machine for your setup is one of those decisions that ripples through everything else, from how consistent your output is to how much you’re spending on labor each month.

This guide breaks down what today’s machines can actually do, what to look for when choosing one, and how to scale production without running into the common pitfalls. [Read more…] about Brick Making Machines: Guide for Efficient and Scalable Production

Reframe Systems installs robotic-built modular unit as sales hub for Boston innovation center

March 31, 2026 by Sam Francis

Reframe Systems, the Massachusetts-based physical AI company innovating homebuilding with robotic microfactories, has partnered with Cabot, Cabot & Forbes (CC&F), a specialist in transit-oriented development for Greater Boston’s new economy workers, to deploy a Reframe unit as the on-site marketing and sales office for The Bolt, a 180,000 SF innovation and manufacturing center currently under construction in Woburn along the New Boston Corridor.

The 554-square-foot Reframe unit, delivered and installed on-site at The Bolt, is serving as a high-end sales and leasing hub for CC&F during The Bolt’s construction period, which is expected to conclude in Q2 2027.

The unit’s interior fixtures and finishes are designed to mirror the quality and aesthetic of The Bolt itself, giving prospective tenants a tangible, immersive experience of the development before a single lease is signed. How Automation is Changing Residential Construction and Outdoor Living Spaces

March 24, 2026 by Sam Francis

Automation is transforming industries around the world, and the construction sector is no exception. While automation is often associated with manufacturing and large-scale industrial projects, it is increasingly influencing residential construction and even outdoor living projects.

From digital design software to automated cutting tools and project management platforms, technology is improving efficiency, accuracy, and overall project quality in modern construction.

Even traditional outdoor construction projects are benefiting from these technological advancements. Projects such as decks, patios, and outdoor living spaces are now often designed using digital modeling tools and built with precision equipment. Boston Dynamics and FieldAI partner to bring robots into construction and other complex, dynamic environments

March 13, 2026 by Sam Francis

Boston Dynamics and FieldAI announced a partnership to advance robotics in construction and other complex, ever-changing environments.

The collaboration combines Boston Dynamics’ world-class robotic platforms and software stack with FieldAI’s Field Foundation Models (FFMs) for uncharted exploration, extending autonomous operations into spaces previously considered too unpredictable for robots.

One example is construction, where sites are constantly evolving, with shifting terrain, changing layouts, and active human workflows. These highly dynamic conditions have long made it difficult for traditionally programmed robots to operate safely and effectively. How automation of building information modelling reduces risk in large-scale construction projects

March 5, 2026 by David Edwards

By Jesus Sanchez, president, Modelo Tech Studio

Construction projects of large-scale are complex in nature. Several stakeholders, project deadlines, regulatory demands, evolving designs, and vast streams of data create a climate in which risk is inevitable but manageable. It is here that Building Information Modeling (BIM) automation is revolutionary.

Automation of workflow in BIM environments enables construction companies to identify potential clashes in advance, enhance the coordination process, avoid cost increases, and reduce project delays considerably. Due to the complexity of the projects, construction companies are collaborating with BIM experts for strategic modeling.

Automation of BIM is no longer a choice in larger infrastructure, commercial high-rises, industrial facilities, and healthcare projects, but a risk mitigation factor. [Read more…] about How automation of building information modelling reduces risk in large-scale construction projects

Japan’s ‘first’ 2-story 3D printed house obtains seismic approval from government

March 4, 2026 by David Edwards

Kizuki has completed Japan’s first government approved two-story 3D printed reinforced concrete house. The project meets Japan’s stringent seismic design requirements and demonstrates that 3D printed reinforced concrete can be applied as a structural alternative to timber construction in one of the world’s most earthquake-prone regions.

  • First government approved two-story 3D printed reinforced concrete house in Japan
  • Full seismic compliance confirmed under national building standards
  • Total printed area of 50 m² (537 sq.ft.) across two floors using 39 m³ (1,371 cu.ft.) of material
  • Cave-inspired architecture featuring 3D printed arches, floor slab, and roof slab
  • Four-person crew operating the printer under seasonal conditions ranging from below 10 °C (50 °F) to 35 °C (95 °F)
  • Custom printer configuration enabling printing from 0,5 m (20 in) below ground to a total height of 7 m (23 ft)

The 50 m² (537 sq.ft.) house consists of a 31 m² (329 sq.ft.) ground floor and a 19 m² (209 sq.ft.) upper floor. The design follows a cave-inspired architectural concept, incorporating 3D printed arches, a 3D printed floor slab, and a 3D printed roof slab. Several interior elements were produced using 3D printing to extend the curved geometry throughout the interior.
