Fanuc says it is unable to provide financial forecasts due to tariffs situation

The world’s largest robotics manufacturer, Fanuc, says it is unable to provide financial forecasts for the fiscal year ending in March 2026.

The company cited multiple uncertainties, particularly the impact of US tariffs and their broader implications on the global economy, as reasons for this decision.

Trump announces plans to reduce tariffs on China

President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will “substantially” reduce tariffs on Chinese imports, in a move that could mark a shift in the long-running trade conflict between the world’s two largest economies. 

Speaking on April 22, Trump said that although the tariffs would be lowered significantly, they “won’t be zero”, indicating a continued effort to protect certain domestic industries.

Nissan to launch next generation autonomous driving technology in 2027

Nissan says it will launch its next generation autonomous driving technology – ProPILOT – from fiscal year 2027.

The system, featuring Nissan Ground Truth Perception technology with next-generation Lidar and Wayve AI Driver software, will “set a new standard” for autonomous driving with advanced collision avoidance capability.

GM reports ‘robust first quarter’ in sales growth in China, driven by electric vehicles

General Motors and its joint ventures delivered over 442,000 vehicles in China during the first quarter of 2025, marking a year-over-year sales increase and the third consecutive quarter of market share growth.​

Alstom to equip Taiwan Metro network with driverless signalling system

Alstom has secured a contract to deliver its cutting-edge driverless signalling system for the new Taichung Metro Blue Line in Taiwan, a project designed to support the city’s growing demand for urban mobility.

Awarded by the Systemwide E&M Project Office of Taiwan’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS), the contract includes the deployment of Alstom’s Urbalis CBTC (communications-based train control) system.
