ABB has appointed Björn Rosengren as chief executive officer. He will join ABB on February 1, 2020 and succeed CEO, Peter Voser, in this role on March 1, 2020. At that time Peter Voser will revert to his position at ABB solely as chairman.
Rosengren, a Swedish citizen, is a highly experienced, international executive and leader of industrial businesses, says ABB.

Xilinx has launched what it claims is the “world’s largest” FPGA chip featuring 9 million system logic cells.
Xilinx says the new chip represents the expansion of its 16 nanometer (nm) Virtex UltraScale+ range.

Manufacturing output in the US has reached an “all-time high”, signaling the industry’s strength, according to the National Association of Manufacturers.
For the past two years, manufacturers have been setting new records when it comes to manufacturing output, and through the first quarter of 2019, the industry has continued to reach new heights.
Four out of five manufacturers remain positive about their company’s outlook, according to the National Association of Manufacturers’ latest Outlook Survey, and new Bureau of Economic Analysis data find that manufacturers’ level of output hit an all-time high once again. Collaborative robots are working with human welders in manufacturing, according to Canada-based robotics company Novarc Technologies, a company which has built a robot specifically for pipe welding.
Welding is one of the biggest applications for robots, particularly in the automotive industry.
According to the International Federation of Robotics, approximately half of all robotic arms sold in the US are bought by the automotive manufacturing sector, and around one-third of those robots are used for welding.
