The high level of interest in smart factory and automation technologies in South Korea is understandable – the country has the highest density of industrial robots per 1,000 workers in manufacturing of any nation on Earth.

Additionally, some of its companies are not only global operations, they are household names all over the world.

Samsung, for example, which recently released what is one of the first foldable smartphones (see infographic below), is headquartered in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea.  [Read more…] about Infographic: Samsung’s foldable smartphone

Nidec Corporation is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial components, with annual revenues typically in the region of $11 billion.

The Japanese company’s technology can be found in products ranging from robots to computers, from cars to washing machines, and beyond.

There probably isn’t a machine builder on Earth who has not used or has at least considered using Nidec components at concept or production stage. In the computing sector, for example, Nidec is said to have the largest global market share for the tiny spindle motors that power hard-disk drives. Which means that the computer you’re reading this on is likely to have a Nidec component inside it.  [Read more…] about Spinning in infinity: Exclusive insight into industrial technology giant Nidec

Webcast: Interview with Ken Sutton of Yobe

January 23, 2019 by Abdul Montaqim

yobe-inc copy

In this webcast, Ken Sutton, founder and president of Yobe, gives us an insight into the company’s software, which can isolate and clean up the sound of human voices.

The software can be used in all voice-enabled devices, such as the smart home speakers that many people are buying now – for example, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomePod.

If devices could understand human speech, there would be need to type any more. But that’s just the start – many other things would become possible if computers could properly hear and understand human speech.
