Cyngn signs contract to provide its tugger to another automotive supplier

March 26, 2025 by David Edwards

Cyngn says it will be installing its DriveMod Tugger at a “global Fortune 500 automotive supplier”. The company says this milestone highlights its “growing proven ability to meet the unique demands of the automotive manufacturing industry and deliver innovative autonomous vehicle solutions”.

The automotive supplier company – whose name is withheld for confidentiality – intends to integrate DriveMod Tuggers to automate the transfer of finished goods.

Cyngn’s solutions continue to provide value within the sector, with this announcement building on the company’s prior commercial contract with a separate, major manufacturer in the automotive service equipment space and a letter of intent that was signed in Q4. Cyngn supplies its autonomous tugger to Coats Company facility

January 20, 2025 by David Edwards

Cyngn has initiated a production implementation with Coats Company, the largest full-line wheel service equipment manufacturer in North America.

The installation of Cyngn’s DriveMod Tugger – a self-driving industrial vehicle that can haul goods indoors and outdoors – is under way at Coats’ 150,000+ square foot manufacturing facility in La Vergne, Tennessee.

This deployment will leverage Cyngn’s previously launched next-generation DriveMod Tugger, which features an increased towing capacity from 6,000 lbs to 12,000 lbs. [Read more…] about Cyngn supplies its autonomous tugger to Coats Company facility

Cyngn unveils new 12,000 lb-capacity tugger for warehouses

September 26, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Cyngn has unveiled its first complete build of its next-generation 12,000 lb DriveMod Tugger.

The vehicle construction was successfully completed and demonstrated at the facility of its OEM partner, Motrec International.

This key milestone achieves the previously announced upgrade that increases towing capacity from 6,000 lb to 12,000 lb and marks a step forward for integrating Cyngn’s proprietary DriveMod technology with Motrec’s MT-160 tow tractor at scale. Cyngn modifies autonomous mobile robot to work outdoors

September 17, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Cyngn, a developer of autonomous vehicle technology, says its AI-powered autonomous driving solution, DriveMod, will now be able to operate in outdoor environments.

Organizations will be able to send the DriveMod Tugger on missions that go indoors and outdoors, giving facility managers even more opportunity to automate repetitive workflows and shift employees over to more interesting, higher-value tasks.

As modern warehouses and manufacturing complexes grow ever larger – many surpassing 200,000 square feet and spanning multiple buildings – the challenge of efficiently moving materials from point A to point B becomes increasingly complex. How a top automotive manufacturer went ‘fork free’ to boost productivity and safety

March 2, 2021 by Elaine

By Rob Sullivan, president and CEO, AutoGuide Mobile Robots

With forklifts an ongoing contributor to workplace accidents, and skilled operators difficult to find and retain in today’s competitive manufacturing environment, automating material transport is solving both issues.

A few years ago, a top-tier automotive manufacturer wanted to reduce how often employees had to manually lift and move heavy objects, and eliminate the risk of forklift-related injuries.

They understood that they needed safer and more efficient solutions for transporting engines and other materials from assembly to testing within their 40,000 square foot facility. [Read more…] about How a top automotive manufacturer went ‘fork free’ to boost productivity and safety

Toyota unveils two new autonomous warehouse vehicles

December 2, 2020 by David Edwards

Toyota Forklift has unveiled two new autonomous warehouse vehicles, developed in partnership with Bastian Solutions, a Toyota Advanced Logistics company.

The “Center-Controlled Rider” and “Core Tow Tractor Automated Forklifts” were designed for manufacturing facilities and distribution center operations where tasks are highly standardized, repetitive, and easily accomplished without the need of advanced human management.

The vehicles use ANT software from BlueBotics. ANT is like an operating system for autonomous mobile robots or automated guided vehicles. [Read more…] about Toyota unveils two new autonomous warehouse vehicles

Capturing Improved Productivity: Tugger Train Automation

May 8, 2019 by David Edwards

By Andy Legut, FlexQube

Too often automation and robotics are characterized by sensors driving Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

There are ways to efficiently automate material flow and lean manufacturing principles today. It starts with automating into a fork truck free environment.

Ultimately the reason for automation is to capture improved productivity. Cesar Jimenez, a Toyota Material Handling, USA employee shared that a forklift can only carry up to two loads at a time.
